Vinous (94)The 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is slightly pale in hue and has a rather slight bouquet at first, offering fresh green apple and wet limestone aromas. I would just like more intensity, and indeed, that does develop with 10–15 minutes’ aeration. The palate is well balanced, quite saline and sappy, showing a strong marine influence, with oyster shell and crustaceans on the finish. Very fine and complex. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95)The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has quite a heavy reduction on the nose, although it seems proportionate to the fruit behind it. The palate is quite reductive but there is balance here, a silver thread of acidity lightly spiced with a dab of stem ginger and lemongrass towards the finish. This has more character and energy than Olivier Leflaive's Bâtard and I am intrigued to see how it will age in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)A full mid yellow, much deeper than the Bienvenues. This has all the power, and with finesse too though evidently not as much as the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. The Bâtard has just back from the rugby field. A good example though. 4 barrels made, of which one new. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted: November 2023. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)(5 Star Wine) One barrel, not new. A pale primrose with a startlingly fine and pure bouquet. Magical. There is a refined yet exceptionally intense pure fruit, with a saline and citrus touch behind. Ultra stylish and very pure. The finish extends beautifully behind. Bravo! Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted: November 2023. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)The 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a fairly tight bouquet with apricot, peach skin and light waxy scents. This takes time to open in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a slightly tangy, marmalade-tinged opening, fine depth and a lovely pithy core of fruit. Judiciously spiced toward the finish, this is a very commendable BBM to enjoy over 15 to 20 years. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru come across a bit sultry on the nose despite coaxing. White flowers, fresh white linen and citrus scents eventually emerge. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and quite saline, perhaps it just need a little more complexity towards the finish, but otherwise this is well-crafted. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru was one of the big (pleasant) surprises of the tasting. It has a more composed and complex bouquet compared to others in this flight, with a little more crushed stone, blood oranges and light quince aromas developing in the glass. Impressive delineation and the oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, just a dab of sour lemon and orange rind, quite peppery in style with a bravura finish. Much better than others in this flight, this is well worth hunting down. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Burgundy | 1 | 92-95 (IB) | HK$8,095.00
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)Clear pale colour, a refined and chiselled nose. A little quality oak now emerges to flesh out the bouquet. The fruit is very evenly distributed across the palate, still with an oak presence, a little sandalwood, a good mix between fruit and acidity, and a fine long finish. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted: November 2023. |

Burgundy | 1 | 91-93 (VN) | HK$5,930.00
Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru is more reserved on the nose, but well defined with crushed stone and touches of pressed flowers and chai. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, much more linear, almost Puligny-like in style thanks to the calcaire terroir on the finish. Vivid and animated. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)A lively lime inflected yellow. The nose is backward though speaks just a little of the limestone hillside. The intensity is there but I know more exciting examples. Quite good length of flavour. Not quite singing but may just need more elevage. Drink from 2028-2036. Tasted: November 2023. |
