(1x75cl) 2003Vinous (90)
Pale color. Subdued aromas of licorice and spices, along with a faint resiny quality. Then rich, supple and strong in extract, with mineral and citrus flavors that are fresher than the nose suggests. Finishes with impressive length.HK$13,825.00 -
Vinous (93+)
Very closed nose hints at wet stone. Rich and ripe in the mouth, with palate-saturating flavors of crushed stone and orange. As lush and sweet as this is, it avoids crossing over to exotic. Very deep and very young: should age very well for a 2006.HK$12,620.00 -
(1x75cl) 2009Vinous (94)
Deep but bright aromas of crushed stone and cherry-almond. Fat and opulent; stuffed with soft citrus, spice and stone flavors. A wine of impressive volume, power and fullness but rather backward today. Finishes with lovely balance and superb length. Despite the wine's sheer size and ripeness, the terroir of Rougeots dominates the vintage.HK$11,210.00 -
(1x75cl) 2016Wine Advocate (94+)
Offering up notes of lime oil, tart Anjou pear, peach kernels and sesame that are delicately framed by a judicious touch of new oak, the 2016 Meursault Les Rougeots is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with more texture and a denser, more blocky profile than the other village wines in the cellar this year, displaying considerable extract and a long, stony finish. Raphaël Coche notes that no one in his family can remember a time when Rougeots was so badly frosted, adding that neighboring Chevalières was entirely wiped out.HK$17,495.00 -
(1x75cl) 2019Wine Advocate (94)
The 2019 Meursault Les Rougeots reveals notes of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, orange oil, fresh bread, almond paste and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's elegantly muscular, with terrific concentration, lively acids and chalky grip, concluding with a long, resonant finish. This is beautifully balanced and built to age.HK$16,020.00 -
Vinous (94)
The 2020 Meursault Rougeots has a razor-sharp bouquet with yellow plum, honeysuckle and jasmine, very complex for Village Cru (though it has form!). The palate is beautifully balanced with fine acidity, waxy in texture, almond and orange pith mixed with a touch of stem ginger towards the composed yet persistent finish. Excellent.HK$12,105.00 -

The 2022 Meursault Les Rougeots is beautiful, unfurling in the glass with aromas of pear, confit citrus, freshly baked bread, toasted sesame and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's textural and structured, with lively acids, chalky dry extract and a suave, seamless profile.HK$60,955.00 -
(6x75cl) 2012Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90-92)
Slightly high-toned aromas of orange and lemon oil, with a lightly candied quality. Then silky and dry on the palate, but with an almost exotic quality to the candied citrus fruit flavors. A bit exaggerated for me. Finishes quite persistent, with a piquant note of lemon zest.HK$23,235.00 -
(1x75cl) 2016Vinous (91)
(just half of a normal crop made): Bright yellow. Slightly stunted aromas of stone and citrus fruits. Quite ripe in its deep yellow fruit flavors but given a distinctly penetrating quality by a surprising spine of minerality and fresh acidity. This wine actually seems riper than it did from barrel a year ago, but with no loss of energy. Finishes with a faintly phenolic edge and a lingering note of dusty stone.HK$3,695.00 -

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92-95)
Lively aromas of apple, lemon, minerals and vanilla bean. Creamy sweet and wonderfully intense, with tangy freshness and complicating floral notes. Finishes with explosive fruit. From 75-year-old vines, to comprise roughly half the ultimate blend: Penetrating lemon oil and charred oak aromas. Extremely rich and powerful, with the wine's strong mineral character contributing to the impression of dryness. Really gripping, tactile finish. Large-scaled but uncommonly elegant Charmes.HK$14,475.00 -
Vinous (93-95)
(tasted from tank) Aromas of peach and vanilla. Rich, fat and classically dry, with compelling purity to the lemon, crushed stone and mineral flavors. Perfectly integrated acidity extends the palate-staining, layered finish. With a blend of 15-, 45- and 75-year-old vines in his 1.7-hectares holding in Charmes, Lafon has the flexibility each year to make one of Burgundy's top Meursault bottlings.HK$4,000.00 -
Vinous (93-95)
(tasted from barrel; the wine was scheduled to be racked the week after my visit) Restrained nose hints at candied citrus peel, flowers, vanilla and smoky lees. On the palate, lovely sweetness is perfectly buffered by ripe acidity, but this is very backward and minerally wine-more Perrieres-like than most other growers' Perrieres. Taut and uncompromising, and less showy than the Genevrieres.HK$3,465.00 -

(bottled the day before my visit; aged in 40% new oak): Complex, vibrant aromas of peach, orange zest and lemon accented by white pepper. Rich, ripe, tactile and sweet, with the intense citrus and stone fruit flavors accented by peppery spices and complicated by vanilla and leesy nuances. A very good showing today, but this is still a baby.HK$4,520.00 -

(one-third new oak): Pale bright yellow. Classic aromas of lemon cream, minerals and sexy lees, along with subtle oak notes of char and coconut. Mouthfilling and ripe but bright and sharply delineated, with harmonious acidity and underlying minerality giving the wine an urgent sappy quality. Really resounds on the palate-staining finish.HK$38,225.00 -

(on its finings): Lemon-yellow color. Ripe peach, hazelnut and vanillin oak on the classic Meursault nose. Boasts a terrific combination of refined texture and outstanding inner-palate tension, showing the flavor intensity and verve to support a long and graceful evolution in bottle. Finishes with outstanding lemon-zest cut and length. My style of Meursault, and downright electric in the context of the year.HK$4,080.00 -

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes from Comtes Lafon was not firing on all cylinders from barrel but clearly this is not the case now that the wine is in bottle. It demonstrated a subtle reduction on the nose with scents of dried quince complementing the citrus fruit, walnut and smoke aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine delineation, harmonious with notes of tangerine and orange zest, the oak nicely integrated with appreciable weight on the finish. Very fine, very sophisticated—this surpasses my expectations from barrel.HK$6,110.00 -

The 2015 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru is taut and linear, more reticent than the Clos de la Barre at the moment, yet it evolves in the glass and reveals a Perrières-like stoniness. The palate pivots around a silver bead of acidity with citrus peel and nectarine notes, demonstrating greater depth than its peers on the powerful finish. Superb! Tasted at the 05/15 Burgundy dinner in The Good Earth.HK$4,045.00 -

The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of crisp peaches, apples, dried white flowers, honeycomb and oatmeal. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, with a deep, concentrated and multidimensional core, vibrant acids and a long finish. There's plenty of tight-knit structure and dry extract here, so this should be a long-lived Charmes.HK$41,560.00 -

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is also showing very well, revealing aromas of pear, crisp yellow orchard fruit, fresh peach, almond paste and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and muscular palate that's deep, concentrated and structured, with more texture and a more introverted profile than the more expressive Genevrières. This is another great bottle in the making.HK$33,715.00 -

(5-Star Wine) An attractive faint green tint to the colour. The nose shows no signs of heat or heaviness. This is magical on the palate, absolutely fills the mouth, ripe lemons on top of rich pear fruit, but nothing peachy or over-ripe. A brilliant example of Charmes, as the vineyard and the vintage are completely in harmony. Drink from 2026-2035.HK$33,020.00 -

(5-Stars) An exuberant and heady style of Charmes. And why not, that is what we expect from this vineyard. Broad shouldered but it is a question of muscle, not fat. Harmonious fruit with a good base of acidity behind. An exceptionally convincing finish. Drink from 2026-2034.HK$48,605.00 -
