Burgundy
When it comes to the world of fine wines, Burgundy stands tall as one of the most revered and sought-after regions. Renowned for its exceptional terroir and commitment to quality, Burgundy has long captivated enthusiasts with its exquisite and highly prized wines. Today, let us delve into the realm of the best and most expensive wines that Burgundy has to offer, a realm where true wine aficionados can indulge in the pinnacle of winemaking excellence.
At the heart of Burgundy's prestige lie its renowned vineyards, which have garnered global acclaim for their exceptional wines. The names that resonate in the world of Burgundy are Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leroy, Domaine Armand Rousseau, and Domaine Georges Roumier. These vineyards have become synonymous with greatness, crafting wines that define elegance, complexity, and longevity.
Burgundy's most esteemed wines are crafted from two noble grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The region's red wines, made predominantly from Pinot Noir, display a finesse and purity of fruit that are unmatched. Vineyards such as Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, and Richebourg produce red wines that command astronomical prices due to their exceptional quality and limited production.
For white wine enthusiasts, Burgundy's Chardonnay-based wines are a true revelation. Vineyards like Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, and Meursault showcase the full potential of this noble grape, producing wines of unparalleled richness, depth, and complexity. These whites epitomize the artistry of winemaking, with each sip revealing layers of flavors and a harmonious balance between fruit, minerality, and oak.
In the world of fine wines, Burgundy stands as an epitome of elegance, complexity, and refined craftsmanship. Its best and most expensive wines are a testament to the region's unwavering commitment to excellence, terroir-driven winemaking, and the artistry of the winemakers.

Very charming and fruity on the nose. Real race and delicacy. Nothing wrong with this! Such a precise charmer.HK$22,590.00 -

(6x75cl) 2021Vinous (89-91)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village has an open and very floral bouquet that doesn't explode, rather leaps from the glass: maraschino cherries, blueberry and iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly edgy tannins, quite citric, very fresh with a touch of black pepper on the finish. Plenty of energy is coiled up in this Village Cru and it cares little that it was denied the length of recent vintages. Very fine.HK$19,445.00 -
Burghound (91)
(from two different parcels of vines, one .56 ha parcel located in the premier cru Les Plantes, which was planted in 1968 and the second from a .77 ha holding in the villages-level portion of La Combe d’Orveau, 60% of which is young vines, and the remainder is 40+ year old vines; the split is about 55% La Combe d’Orveau and 45% Les Plantes). A ripe, fresh and elegant array is comprised by notes of red and dark currant, spice and a violet top note plus an interesting hint of orange peel. The beautifully textured and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors possess a lovely innate tension that carries over to the youthfully austere, balanced, minerally and impressively long finale. This is an excellent Chambolle villages.HK$18,235.00 -

(1x75cl) 1993Vinous (94)
A complex and seductive nose of spice and herbs leads to a round and ripe mouthful of raspberry and black cherry fruit. I have had mixed experience with this wine, but this bottle was delicious and probably at its peak. A touch of acidity on the finish suggests it may be better sooner rather than later.HK$21,720.00 -

(1x75cl) 1995Vinous (89+)
More complex aromas of strawberry, smoke, minerals, truffle and coffee. Larger-scaled and riper in the mouth; also considerably fresher than the Bonnes-Mares. But backward today, and faintly medicinal on the finish. The tannins build with aeration. This will need time.HK$21,720.00 -
(1x75cl) 1999Vinous (98)
A spellbinding bottle of Mugnier’s 1999 Musigny Grand Cru rounds out the evening. So complex and beguiling, the 1999 is at once light on its feet and quite deep, with terrific freshness and breathtaking balance. Aeration brings out further layers of dimension. The 1999 is at times quite cerebral, while in other moments it is more overtly virile. Like all truly great wines, every taste reveal a different facet of its personality. What a thrill it is to drink this with a group of my closest friends.HK$29,430.00 -
(1x75cl) 2002Vinous (95)
Showing all the virtues of this fine vintage, including a lovely mélange of perfectly ripe red and black fruit. My notes also say “smells cool, tastes warm,” which I guess would indicate its perfect balance. This is à point, elegant and silky, but should go on and on.HK$25,880.00 -
Vinous (93)
The famously hot vintage announces itself right out of the glass: explosive blackberry and blueberry fruit. Yes, it’s ripe but not ridiculously so. Picked September 1st. Despite a bit of residual tannin, this is developing surprisingly well and may continue to do so.HK$21,755.00 -
(1x150cl) 2004Vinous (94)
Deep red. Classic aromas of small wild red berries, mocha and underbrush. Broad, sweet and deep-particularly impressive in the context of the vintage-without any loss of clarity or aromatic lift. Wonderfully suave, full wine that's also surprisingly tastable today. Finishes with noble tannins, noteworthy sweetness of fruit and terrific lift. This one should probably be laid down for seven or eight years.HK$50,110.00 -

Deep red with ruby tones. Flamboyantly ripe aromas of black fruits, blood orange, peony and espresso. Huge yet weightless, saturating every square millimeter of the mouth with very ripe dark fruits, minerals and spices. This plush, sweet, extremely unevolved wine is almost monolithic today but the explosive, palate-staining finish suggests that it has a slow and glorious evolution ahead of it. The fruit here was picked with potential alcohol of 13.7%, the same as in 2005.HK$17,245.00 -

Bright, deep red. Knockout aromas and flavors of black cherry, black raspberry, crushed stone and smoky minerality. Wonderfully deep, tangy and sweet, with a captivating creamy texture making this deceptively tastable today. Impressive today for its volume, and finishes very long, broad and classically dry, with substantial fine-grained tannins. As delicious as this is right now, its overall balance suggests it will reward a decade of aging. For his part, Mugnier says that virtually every vintage of his Musigny needs ten years in the bottle.HK$117,920.00 -
(3x75cl) 2008Wine Advocate (97)
The 2008 Musigny is an infant, but it captures the essence of this important red Burgundy vintage to the fullest. There is gorgeous subtlety and nuance to the fruit, along with magnificent aromatics and the most elegant of tannins. The 2008 needs time for the elements to harmonize, but there is no mistaking the profoundness of what is developing in bottle. Today the Musigny shows a little more density and a touch better balance with its tannins than the Bonnes Mares, but both of Mugnier’s Grand Crus in 2008 are truly grand. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2048.HK$80,275.00 -
(2x75cl) 2010Vinous (97)
Another difficult vintage that produced a brilliant wine. This Musigny has developed a spicy nose with hints of tobacco. Very round but not overripe. Somehow this seems both bitter and sweet at the same time, yin and yang, with red and black fruit. Seems to combine the virtues of ripe and cool vintages.HK$54,065.00 -

(1x150cl) 2011Jancis Robinson (19)
Some vines planted in 1940s, and others between 1958-1963. A little darker than the rest. Gamey nose (nothing to do with reduction). Juice and freshness and intensity and real life and savour. Quite firm fine tannins underneath but masses of mind-blowing elegant fruit. Sinewy. All in the same register as the village wine. A gold-standard wine. But some will find it tight at this stage.HK$38,690.00 -

(3x75cl) 2012Vinous (98)
The 2012 Musigny opens with the most exquisite, captivating aromatics imaginable. A seemingly eternal wine with no beginning and no end, the Musigny is a wine that calls for serious introspection as it constantly changes in the glass. Wild flowers of all sorts meld into exquisite, finely-sculpted fruit all with the support of silky tannins that only add to the wine's total sense of refinement. The finish is long, seamless and haunting. There isn't too much more to say, except that the Mugnier's 2012 Musigny is one of the wines of the year.HK$88,080.00 -

Wine Advocate (96)
The 2014 Musigny Grand Cru is just being released. Wafting from the glass with aromas of rose petals, Egyptian musk, orange rind, peonies, warm spices and red berries, it's full-bodied, velvety and perfumed, with superb concentration, lively acids and fine, powdery tannins that still assert themselves on the long, penetrating and gently chalky finish. This is a brilliant Musigny, but while Mugnier has done some of the work for his clients by aging the wine at the domaine for seven or eight years, it still demands a decade of additional patience.HK$19,445.00 -
