In a fairly simple, slightly pinched style, and past its fruit stage. Bruno Clair described 2001 as a tough year for us, with a difficult flowering and a bad July. We didn't have problems with cleanliness of the fruit but there was a wide range of ripeness within the same bunches ever since the flowering. (Clair also showed me his Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers, and that wine was a bit funkier on the nose, with its acidity taking over the palate; it was in decline.)HK$44,115.00 -

Good dark red. Cool, more mineral-driven aromas of blueberry, blackberry, dark raspberry and licorice. Juicy and tightly wound, with lovely inner-mouth perfume and energy to its complex flavors of black cherry, raspberry, licorice and mint. Strong soil tones and minerality add interest here. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and excellent thrust and length. The crop level was just 32 hectoliters per hectare, according to Clair.HK$20,700.00 -

The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, saturated tannins. This is silky and smooth in texture with a fine veneer of new oak, just a touch of orange rind and marmalade towards the finish with impressive persistence.
