In Provence, the birthplace of French rosé, vineyards such as Château d'Esclans, Domaines Ott, and Château Miraval craft some of the most sought-after rosé wines in the world. These vineyards are revered for their commitment to quality and their ability to capture the essence of Provence in each bottle. Provence rosés are known for their pale pink color, delicate aromas, and refreshing flavors of red fruits, citrus, and herbs.

Moving to the Rhône Valley, the region of Tavel shines as the home of exceptional rosé wines. Domaine de la Mordorée, Domaine de la Vieille Julienne, and Château d'Aquéria are among the renowned vineyards that produce rich and expressive Tavel rosés. These wines exhibit a deeper color and a more robust structure, showcasing flavors of ripe berries, floral notes, and a touch of spice.

In the Loire Valley, the vineyards of Sancerre and Anjou offer distinctive expressions of rosé. Domaine Vacheron and Domaine Guiberteau are known for their vibrant and mineral-driven Sancerre rosés, while Château de Brézé and Domaine des Roches Neuves produce elegant and complex Anjou rosés.

The region of Bandol in Provence is synonymous with powerful and age-worthy rosé wines. Domaine Tempier, Château Pibarnon, and Domaine de la Tour du Bon are celebrated for their structured and deeply flavored Bandol rosés, characterized by their depth, intensity, and ability to age gracefully.

Mature notes suggest more reserve wine in this complex, elegant version. Dried fruit, spice and woodsy flavors are backed by a firm structure. The fine texture and long finish combine for a terrific overall impression.

  • Philippe Lancelot Rose des Lys Extra Brut Grand Cru 2008 (6x150cl)

The Philippe Lancelot Rose des Lys Extra Brut Grand Cru 2008 is a quintessential expression of the terroir of Cramant, a celebrated village in France's Champagne region, renowned for its esteemed Chardonnays. This vintage is a result of Lancelot’s meticulous viticulture, enshrined by organic and biodynamic principles. With spontaneous fermentation undertaken in enameled vats followed by extended ageing on lees, the wine exudes a complexity and nuance that captivates the palate.

Immaculately structured, the Philippe Lancelot Rose des Lys Extra Brut Grand Cru 2008 offers a tantalising balance between brioche-like depth and sublime mineral freshness, encapsulated by its lean, elegant texture. Its extraordinarily fine mousse gives way to a sophisticated, layered array of white fruits, subtly intertwined with delicate floral undertones. This wine is incredibly exclusive, available in very limited quantities, owing to Lancelot's small-scale production and single-vineyard sourcing.

  • Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Juste Rose 2006 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2006 Clos des Goisses Rosé is a deceptively powerful Champagne. Pale in color, as it always is, the 2006 Rosé packs a serious punch. Deep, exquisitely layered and persistent on the palate, the 2006 offers a compelling interplay of power and finesse. The Clos des Goisses Rosé is the same base as the Blanc, with the addition of 9% Pinot vinified with the saignée method (rather than still). This is one of the best versions of the Juste Rosé I have tasted. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged June 2016.

  • Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Juste Rose 2008 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98+)

Disgorged in March 2019, the 2008 Extra Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is a fabulous forthcoming release from Philipponnat, opening in the glass with aromas of rose petals, warm bread, red berries, papaya and spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with an incisive spine of acidity, excellent concentration and a tight-knit core, concluding with a long, intense and chalky finish. This is still a very youthful, tensile rosé and patience will be required of anyone hoping to drink it at its peak of maturity.

  • Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Juste Rose 2009 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2009 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is absolutely gorgeous. In 2009, the Juste Rosé has a bit more body and resonance than normal, which works so well here given that it can be a bit fleeting. Crushed red berries, mint, white pepper and chalk are some of the many aromas and flavors that race through this taut, finely sculpted Rosé from Philipponnat. The 2009 is beautifully done. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter.

  • Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Juste Rose 2012 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2012 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is a wild, exotic wine. Kirsch, white pepper, flowers, mint and cranberry lend a gorgeous air of exoticism. As always, the Rosé is light in body gracious and all finesse. The blend is 68% Pinot Noir and 32% Chardonnay. This is the first release made with a blend of what is essentially a Blanc de Noirs base, with the ‘still red’ portion (18%) coming from a saignée. Time in the glass brings out the breadth and natural texture of the year. This is a gorgeous Rosé from Philipponat. Disgorged: March, 2022.

  • Philipponnat Cuvee 1522 Rose 2008 (6x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (18)

Full bottle 1,697 g. From vineyards including the historic plots at Le Léon in Aÿ, complemented by Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Red wines from Mareuil. 72% Pinot Noir and 28% Chardonnay. Dosage 4.5 g/l, eight years sur latte, disgorged March 2019. 5,212 bottles. Long and racy. Bitter orange oils and raspberry-leaf tea, more than a little minty but with the cool-hit lift and bite of wasabi powder, fine-ground chalk and river pebbles, cumin powder, white pepper. Enormously complex but clenched as tight as a fist. White raspberries, grapefruit, redcurrants. Precision, finger-nail-pressed origami folds, so sharp the fruit has paper cuts. Exciting. Exacting. Tense yet creamy. Spice defines the finish and brings it to a close that feels like an unfinished poem. So you take another sip.

  • Pol Roger Brut Rose 2008 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Pol Roger's 2008 Rosé Vintage is an impressively full-bodied, round and fruity as well as structured Champagne. Dressed in a beautiful salmon color, the 2008 opens beautifully clear, deep and fresh on the aromatic and spicy perfumed nose where red berry (raspberries!) and aromatic herbs are displayed. Full, intense and rich on the palate, this is an expansive, perfectly round, vinous and already accessible Champagne with power, structure and finesse. The finish is just excellent—fresh, with well-integrated acidity and a functional but not prominent mineral backbone.

  • Pol Roger Brut Rose 2012 (1x75cl)
    (1x75cl) 2012

    Jancis Robinson (17.5+)

Based on their Brut Vintage 2012 (60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay) to which is added 15% of still Pinot Noir from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. Aged for six years in bottle before disgorgement. A relatively deep colour with a tomato (colour, not flavour) tinge. A really very opulent array of aromas. Serious grip on the finish. This is a serious rosé with ageing potential. Quite pungent and great balance. Very brisk and revitalising on the finish. Neat and long. This would be very happy at the table.
  • Pol Roger Brut Rose 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2015 Brut Rosé is compelling. Far from an easygoing Champagne, the 2015 Rosé possesses striking depth and layers of fruit that open beautifully with a bit of time in the glass. Crushed flowers, raspberry, blood orange, mint and spice all run through a substantial, super-expressive Rosé from Pol Roger that is ideally suited to the dinner table. Disgorged: November 2021. Dosage is 7 grams per liter.

  • Pol Roger Brut Rose 2018 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (95)

Made from 60% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, with 15% red wine from Les Riceys, the 2018 Champagne Vintage Brut Rosé pours a bright but deeper shade of pink with an orange hue and is forward with aromas of ripe raspberry, rose petal, orange peel, and a hint of spice. Medium to full-bodied, it has broad shoulders and a bit of tannic grip, with a fine mousse that fades to the background, allowing the wine's more serious side to show off its style. Chalky and powerful on the palate, with wonderful clarity and a long finish, it’s going to move into its more savory side with another couple of years in the cellar. It will pair well alongside roast duck and through the end of a meal. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2008 Champagne Rare Rosé is straight-up sensational. Only the second time they’ve produced this cuvée, it offers a deep, full-bodied, powerful yet chiseled and laser-focused style carrying loads of wild strawberry fruit as well as notes of orange blossom, spice, and crushed rocks. Backward, austere, yet simply loaded with potential, it needs a solid 4-5 years of bottle age and will drink brilliantly for two decades or more.

  • Ruinart Dom Ruinart Rose 2007 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

Tasted from magnum and disgorged in December 2021 with a dosage of five grams per liter, the 2007 Dom Ruinart Rosé—the first vintage under Frédéric Panaïotis's guidance—is showing brilliantly. It offers a complex bouquet of mandarin, blood orange, red plum and wild raspberry, enriched by notes of roasted cocoa and a subtle smoky reduction. On the palate, it is full-bodied, vinous and elegantly muscular, with a flamboyant and layered core of fruit, bright acidity and a long, delicately perfumed finish. Slightly more tightly wound than the 2009 Dom Ruinart Rosé, the magnum format only enhances its energy and texture. The blend is 80% Chardonnay—predominantly from the Côte des Blancs—complemented by 20% Pinot Noir vinified as red wine from the house’s vineyard in Aÿ.
