The Miani Friulano Buri 2019 is a distinguished expression from the esteemed Miani winery, nestled in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia's renowned Buri subzona. Crafted from meticulously selected Friulano grapes, this vintage showcases the region's unique terroir. The grapes undergo careful hand harvesting, followed by gentle pressing to preserve their delicate aromas. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, ensuring the wine retains its vibrant freshness and complexity. A brief ageing period in neutral oak barrels enhances its structure without overshadowing the fruit's purity. On the palate, the Miani Friulano Buri 2019 reveals notes of ripe pear, almond, and subtle mineral undertones, culminating in a crisp, elegant finish. Perfectly balanced, this wine exemplifies the finesse and tradition of Miani’s winemaking philosophy, making it a superb choice for connoisseurs seeking authenticity and sophistication.

In 2010, proprietor Enzo Pontoni did not bottle any of his top reds. Instead, readers will find the 2010 Rosso, a gorgeous, entry-level offering that captures plenty of Miani intensity, but with less richness than is typically found in the flagship wines. Mocha, espresso, black cherries, licorice and savory herbs flow from this nuanced, chiseled Friulian red. The 2010 Rosso is beautiful and classy to the core. It will also drink well upon release.HK$6,140.00 -

This wine shows beautiful results in this vintage. Nebbiolo loves a long growing season, and that's exactly what it got in this year. The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is a delicately nuanced wine with blue flower aromas of violets and pressed rose followed by dried berry, spice, licorice and white truffle. You'll really enjoy those unique Cannubi aromatic characteristics in this balanced and elegant wine.HK$5,390.00 -
Vinous (88-90)
Medium color. Fruit driven aromas of plum, raspberry, licorice, pepper, mint and earth. Tight and high pitched; primary and backward, with moderate ripeness. Seems rather high in acidity.HK$5,065.00 -
Vinous (90+)
Good ruby-red color. Deep, highly aromatic nose combines crystallized cherry, roasted meat, violet, cinnamon, tobacco, eucalyptus and underbrush. Juicy but still rather tight, even tart-edged, with a restrained sweetness. Rather dominated by its acidity today, but already offers enticing inner-mouth perfume of black cherry and violet. Slow-building, long finish suggests that this firmly structured, sharply delineated Barolo will develop well with six to eight years of bottle aging.HK$5,370.00 -

The 2017 Barolo Cerequio is a powerful, dark wine. Black cherry, mocha, leather, cloves and licorice bring out darker shades of Nebbiolo character. Huge tannins clamp down on the finish, limiting the wine's expressiveness. This is an especially brooding wine from Cerequio, a site where Barolos tend to be more finessed.HK$4,425.00 -

Dried flowers, red berry baked tarts, rose petals, patisserie elements. Clean, clear and sharp, this is focussed and amazingly taught on the palate. Tannins are present and firm giving the linearity to this - the straight core that drives the wine forward. It's not so expansive, the tension is so apparent still, but so well defined and really graceful. Feels sophisticated and oh so charming. Such amazing almost bitter, minty, freshness on the finish, the licks of stone, graphite, pencil led giving the salinity and minerality. Just such a gorgeous lingering impression that makes you smile. Mouthwatering acidity is up front and centre but it's cushioned and plumped by the tannins and freshness, not giving plushness but certainly adding depth. Amazingly well controlled, full of vivacity and scintillating tension.HK$2,300.00 -

Medium bright red. Subdued, slightly warm aromas and flavors of red cherry, sweet spices and underbrush. Then at once sweet and sturdy in the mid-palate, with precise red cherry and redcurrant fruit flavors, but turns a touch dry on the back end. This kght come around in a few years.HK$2,505.00 -
