  • Contucci Mulinvecchio Vino Nobile 2015 (6x75cl)
    ```html
    Contucci Mulinvecchio Vino Nobile 2015 exemplifies the rich tradition of Tuscan winemaking. Crafted in the heart of the Valdichiana region, this wine is predominantly made from the Sangiovese grape, meticulously selected from the estate's oldest vineyards. The Contucci family, renowned for their commitment to quality and sustainability, employs a blend of traditional and modern vinification techniques. After hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo a meticulous fermentation process in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the fruit's purity and vibrant acidity. The wine is then aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, imparting subtle vanilla and spice notes while enhancing its complex structure. On the palate, Contucci Mulinvecchio Vino Nobile 2015 reveals elegant tannins, a harmonious balance of cherry and plum flavours, and a lingering finish. Ideal for both connoisseurs and discerning palates, this vintage stands as a testament to Contucci's excellence in fine wine production.
  • Cordella Brunello di Montalcino 2015 (6x75cl)
    James Suckling (97)
    This has an unwonted, intensely floral note of eucalyptus and tee tree oil, which makes it immediately recognizable against other 2015 Brunellos. Besides that, there are ripe rose stems and dried lavender. It has a racy core of boisterous berries that dive inwards and outwards of firm, structured tannins. The juxtaposition of steely resolve and intense florals are quite remarkable. Very classy. Drink from 2025.
  • Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Enrico VI 2008 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (93+)
    The 2008 Barolo Enrico VI is a beautiful wine that impresses for its textural elegance and sheer harmony. The aromas and flavors come together beautifully in this sumptuous, texured Barolo. Dark plums, spices, menthol and minerals are woven together in this fleshy, generous Enrico VI. This is a gorgeous Barolo with plenty of upside potential. The Enrico VI is made from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falletto.
  • Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Enrico VI 2011 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (92)
    The 2011 Barolo Enrico VI is the sweetest and most floral of the 2011s. Rose petal, cinnamon, mint, sweet red cherries and kirsch meld together in a supple, expressive Barolo that will offer a long and broad window of pure drinking pleasure. This is an unusually open Villero from Cordero di Montezemolo. At the same time, there is plenty of nuance and subtlety in the glass.
  • Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Enrico VI 2012 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (93)
    The 2012 Barolo Enrico VI, from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falleto, is a deep, beautifully layered wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, menthol and licorice all flesh out effortlessly. The 2012 is rich and expansive, with striking depth and terrific overall balance.
  • Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Enrico VI 2013 (6x75cl)
    James Suckling (96)
    A big and powerful Barolo with chewy tannins and lots of fruit and structure. Full body, chewy tannins and just so much fruit. Layered and complex. Just a baby. Drink in 2022.
  • Cordero Montezemolo Barolo Gorette 2000 (1x150cl)
    Cordero Montezemolo Barolo Gorette 2000 exemplifies the pinnacle of Nebbiolo craftsmanship in the esteemed Gorette vineyard, nestled in the heart of Barolo, Piemonte. Esteemed producer Cordero Montezemolo meticulously harvests hand-selected grapes, ensuring optimal ripeness and quality. The wine undergoes traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by ageing for 24 months in French oak barrels, imparting subtle complexity and refinement. The 2000 vintage benefits from a favourable climate, yielding a Barolo of remarkable structure and elegance. On the nose, aromas of ripe red cherries, truffle, and earthy undertones unfold, while the palate reveals firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a persistent finish. This Cordero Montezemolo Barolo Gorette 2000 is a testament to the region's terroir and the producer's unwavering dedication to excellence, making it a prized addition for discerning collectors and connoisseurs alike.
  • Cordero Montezemolo Barolo Monfalletto 2009 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (92)
    Cordero di Montezemolo's 2009 Barolo Monfalletto is striking. Firm yet silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit as this gracious, supple Barolo opens up in the glass. Sweet red cherries, flowers, mint, licorice and spices are all woven together nicely. In 2009, the entry-level Monfalletto impresses for its balance and overall sense of harmony. It remains the most delicate Barolo in the range while clearly overachieving within the context of the year. I don't expect the 2009 to be a super long-term ager, but it sure is gorgeous today. This is a terrific showing from Alberto Cordero di Montezemolo and his team.
  • Cortonesi Brunello di Montalcino La Manella Riserva 2015 (6x75cl)
    Wine Advocate (95)
    Softer for sure compared to the 2016 wines, and more abundant in personality, the Cortonesi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva La Mannella is very expressive of the sunny, warm and luminous growing season. Rich fruit flavors of dark plum, black cherry and cassis are interwoven with spice, sweet tobacco and balsam herb. This wine is fermented in steel for 25 days and is then racked into oak for a long 48-months élevage. This wine is only made in the best years, and it draws its fruit from the estate's oldest vines, which are 37 years old. A mere 3,658 bottles were made. The tannins are a bit bitter and youthful, so give this wine more cellar time.
  • Cortonesi Brunello di Montalcino La Mannella 2016 (6x75cl)
    Wine Advocate (94)
    The Cortonesi 2016 Brunello di Montalcino La Mannella shows dark fruit with dried cherry, blackcurrant and plum. On a second wave of aromas, you encounter softer spice with toasted almond, tilled earth and grilled herb. This is a classic expression of the crisp but sunny 2016 vintage with an open and food-friendly personality. There is a playful touch of sweet cherry on the close. Fruit is sourced from the La Mannella zone, one of the coolest growing areas in the appellation at moderate 350 meters above sea level. Winemaking is traditional, using 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak for three years of slow aging, and this reinforces all those fun berry notes on display in the 25,000-bottle release.
  • Cortonesi Brunello di Montalcino Poggiarelli 2016 (6x75cl)
    Wine Advocate (96+)
    The Cortonesi 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Poggiarelli draws its fruit from a vineyard planted in the 1970s and replanted in part during the 1990s. Its fruit has made this designate wine since 1998, and like many of the Selezioni (and the Brunello cru expressions), this wine shows a pretty mineral character that lifts above the bright red fruit. It's absolutely true that these special sections from Montalcino are always recognized by their terrain or soil-adjacent aromas. In this case, I can smell those flinty or gravel-like tones from the schistous Galestro rocks. That special aromatic signature is followed by dark fruit and balsam herb, firm tannins and bright acidity. This is a limited 4,000-bottle release.
  • Coste del Vivo Toscana Rosso No.1 NV (16 17 19) (6x75cl)
    Jancis Robinson (17.5)
    Superb. The acidity is geometric, triangular, feisty, orange-blossom fragrant, direct. The fruit is orange and passion fruit bleeding into plums and tea leaves and sage and mint and thyme and scribbles of pencils and late-summer nights and the finish is like walking through a just-harvested hay field when the first cool rain of autumn is falling soft as mist. Love this. It's delicious, delicious, delicious. I tasted it right at the end of a very long tasting – seven hours on my feet – and it quite literally revived my flagging soul.
  • Coste del Vivo Toscana Rosso No.1 NV (6x75cl)
    Jancis Robinson (17.5)
    Succulent, polished fruit in beautiful balance. This is enough to inspire a rash of multi-vintage blends, no? Walter may disapprove of the incursion of those Bordeaux grapes but it's a really lovely drink, grown, presumably, not that far from Tenuta del Trinoro. Very long and nuanced. Beautiful texture and freshness. Lip smacking! How wonderful to find this under £20 a bottle. No prizes for label design but I'd much rather all the effort went into making a lovely (and ready) drink. Not a wine for long keeping. Just drink it. Very good value.
  • Cristian Boffa Barolo Capalot 2018 (6x75cl)
    Easily one of the best value wines in its class, there is not a hair out of place in this elegant, classic and well-constructed Capalot. Showing the ineffable elegance of one of the finest terroirs in La Morra, this is an overachiever in ever sense of the word, a new producer working great soil with world class quality and thoroughly overdelivering on price.
  • Cristian Boffa Barolo Comune di La Morra 2017 (6x75cl)
    A wine that punches well above its weight, challenging many a cru La Morra for elegance, balance and longevity in its structure, this is a well-made wine that offers an eloquent insight in to the charms of this most elegant of terroirs making up the patchwork quilt of Barolo. Fine, juicy red and black berry fruit and a subtle floral bitterness to the palate make this essential reading for the vintage.
  • Cupano Brunello di Montalcino 2013 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (92)
    Opaque red-ruby. Perfumed nose of violet, black cherry, blackberry and flint. Bright, fresh and juicy, featuring dark berry, sweet spice and flinty flavors and an almost Cabernet Franc-like perfume and backbone. An outstanding, very refined wine that is no less than what I expect from the ultra-talented Cousin and Tondini duo who own Cupano, but I found this to be a little darker in its fruit aroma and flavor profile than I like.
  • Cupano Brunello di Montalcino 2016 (1x150cl)
    Vinous (94)
    Crushed black cherries, a dusting of sweet spice, cedar, mocha and cloves blend to create the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino’s fruit-forward and seductive bouquet. Its textures are like pure silk, cast across a medium-bodied frame and ushering in a youthfully dense display of red and black berries. Symmetry is maintained with fine-grained tannins offset by juicy acids, as inner purple florals and a hint of dried citrus lingers. While showing a bit of its oak influence, nothing is out of place in this young and beautifully balanced Brunello from Cupano.
    Vinous (92)
    The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino draws you in with an intense display of black raspberries, dusty rose and crushed rocks. With further coaxing, notes of clove, allspice and mocha evolve in the glass. This is a pure pleasure on the palate, silky and refined, conveying a balanced inner sweetness contrasted by tart wild berries, plum skins and minerals that create a more tactile feel toward the close. Residual acids keep the expression remarkably fresh, as fine-grained tannins settle in, all under an air of tobacco and balsam herbs. This is a slightly heady yet balanced and thoroughly enjoyable expression of the 2017 vintage. I can’t wait to see what a year or two of cellaring will unlock.
  • Cupano Brunello di Montalcino 2018 (1x150cl)
    Vinous (94)
    The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino dazzles with a bright mix of confectionary cherry, candied citrus and exotic spice forming its sweetly seductive bouquet. This smooths over the palate with total elegance, velvety yet refined, with masses of ripe black cherry complemented by sweet herbs and hints of dark chocolate. It finishes with a coating of silky-fine tannins that lingers, more of an accent than an obstacle, as the 2018 tapers off with nuances of spiced orange and clove. Cupano has produced an incredibly beautiful interpretation of the vintage, which does show a bit of its new-oak influence, but with style.
  • Cupano Brunello di Montalcino 2019 (6x75cl)
    Vinous (95)
    The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a bit coy, having just been bottled two weeks ago. Mentholated herbs, exotic spices, dark red fruits, dusty roses and crushed stone can all be found. It's silky, nearly creamy in feel, with cooling acidity to balance as notes of black cherry, plums and balsam herbs swirl throughout. This leaves a coating of fine tannins to linger along with a bitter tinge of savory spice while maintaining a lovely freshness through the long and pleasantly chewy finale.
  • Cupano Vino Rosso 4th Edition NV (6x75cl)
    English critic Matthew Jukes has declared that Lionel's wines are 'worth their weight in gold', and we certainly think that is the case with this Cupano Vino Rosso 4th Edition NV. This is made from a blend of barrels that taste excellent but do not feel ready in time when Cupano blended their Montalcino releases so they were left aside. Instead of waiting to use it for a Brunello that might disrupt the usual annual releases of the estate wines, it has instead become a upmarket 'vin de copains' - wine for friends.
    This 4th Edition comes from the 2018 and 2019 vintages and is made from 80% Sangiovese that would normally be used in their Brunello di Montalcino or Rosso di Montalcino and 20% Merlot that would usually be used in their superb Super Tuscan Ombrone. With the power on the nose and palate that Cupano is usually associated with, this shows all the wonderful Sangiovese character one could want without the oak that a young Brunello would show.
    waiting to use it for a Brunello that might disrupt the usual annual releases of the estate wines, it has instead become a upmarket 'vin de copains' - wine for friends.
    For each new Vino Rosso release, famous french artist Gerard Fromanger paints a special new label and this 4th edition is the most impressive yet. While production has been upped from the last release, this 4th Edition is still made in tiny quantities with only 830 six packs made.
    Wonderfully captivating flavours of Brunello, always very approachable and utterly delicious, with warm sun-baked aromas and lovely smooth developed finish. Precise, ripe plum fruit with Italian warmth and refined spiciness, with elegance and lift on the finish.
