    About Allegrini

The Allegrini family estate covers 120 hectares of vineyard in the heart of Valpolicella Classico. One of the most historically significant wineries in northern Italy, they are a key player in the modern development of Veneto's reputation as a heartland of quality red wines.

Although the family estate has been growing grapes here for several centuries, Giovanni Allegrini was the first to start bottling wines from the family's vineyards. When he died in 1983, he passed a passion for. and a commitment to, quality wine onto his three children - Walter, Marilisa and Franco. They have worked together to build on Giovanni's quality ethos until Walter's death in 2003. Franco now looks after the vineyards and the winemaking, while Marilisa takes charge of sales and marketing.

Allegrini's Amarone is the iconic symbol of the Valpolicella region, and they have numerous projects across Italy that continue to turn heads.

Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2017 (6x75cl)

Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2017 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico pulls you close to the glass with its beguiling bouquet, mixing spicy tangerine and hints of animal musk, giving way to black cherries, rose and cedar spice box. It’s potent and elegant, yet elevated by bright acidity and a cool-toned core of saline-minerals. Sour cherry and exotic spices linger under an air of rosy florals with a chalk-like smoky note. This is only lightly structured and a total pleasure to taste today.

    Allegrini La Grola 2006 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90)

The estate's 2006 La Grola might be even better than the Palazzo della Torre. This full-bodied, exuberant wine bursts from the glass with tons of dark fruit in a ripe, dense style. Sweet notes of herbs and spices linger on the long, pure close. La Grola is 70% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 10% Syrah and 5% Sangiovese that spent 12 months in French oak.
