About Durfort Vivens
Discover Château Durfort-Vivens, a hidden gem of the Left Bank in Margaux. This Second Growth estate has a rich history dating back to 1787 when Thomas Jefferson ranked it just behind the future First Growths (Lafite, Latour, and Margaux) in terms of quality. Unfortunately, the estate fell into disrepair for much of the 19th century under Château Margaux ownership. However, after being acquired by Lucien Lurton and entrusted to his son Gonzague, the Lurton family worked hard to restore the estate's quality to Second Growth standards
Gonzague Lurton, a lone ranger in Bordeaux, has transformed the estate into a fully organic and biodynamic certified operation. But it's his use of amphorae for wine aging that sets him apart. With one of the largest collections of amphorae of any winery in the world, Gonzague aims to bring out the purest expression of his fruit.
At Château Durfort-Vivens, we offer exceptional wines that have received critical acclaim from top wine experts and publications. Our commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices ensures that our wines are not only delicious but also environmentally friendly.
