Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2006 Grand Mayne is a wine that Jean-Antoine Nony had a hard time being proud of until the last three years. It has a high-toned mint-fresh bouquet that just feels a little forced compared to the 2005. The palate is quite sinewy for a 2006, grippy with bold tannins. It does not offer the complexity of the 2005 or perhaps the nuance and charm of the 2004, quite backward towards the finish. Give it another three or four years in bottle. A broody bugger! Tasted at the Grand Mayne vertical at the property. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2014 Grand-Mayne has a light fleshy red berry bouquet with crushed strawberry and raspberry. There is impressive delineation and focus in situ. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin and a crisp line of acidity. This Saint-Émilion is nimble on its feet, something you might not ascribe to older vintages of Grand-Mayne, with a fresh mineral-driven finish. This is one of Jean-Antoine Nony's best wines in recent years. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. |

The Wine Cellar Insider (94)Quite youthful as you would expect, still it is difficult not to be impressed by the concentration, ripeness, elegance, freshness and energy here. Parked on the corner of elegance, freshness and opulence, the fruit shows good purity, length and vibrance. Kuch of what the wine has to offer is held in reserve at the moment. The wine be best after 2026. |
