Hyde de Villaine
Hyde de Villaine (“HdV”) is an important Napa Valley winery located in the cooler Carneros sub-region. It is an estate we constantly seek out as they produce wonderful Burgundian expressions. And of there is the small matter of them being a JV with the de Villaine family who co-own Domaine de la Romanée-Conti! This is a great new parcel of their wines at specially discounted prices:
Hyde de Villaine is a venture between the Hyde Family of Napa and the de Villaine family who co-own Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. These two royal families of wine, related by marriage, share long histories in French and Californian winemaking. In Hyde de Villaine, they have brought together their knowledge and experience for the purpose of creating single-vineyard wines from the legendary slopes of Carneros, California.
The venture was founded in the early 2000s and since 2002 the wines have been made by French Winemaker Stéphane Vivier, who cultivated his skills in Pommard, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Vinous (91)The 2017 Chardonnay Le Debut Hyde Vineyard is a very pretty, open-knit wine loaded with class and personality. Light tropical notes of pineapple and passion fruit complement lemon confit, white flowers and mint in this silky, supple Chardonnay. The Debut is the domaine's young-vine Chardonnay, from vines planted in 2010 with Calera clone. About 75% of the wine was aged in neutral oak and 25% in concrete egg. |
