Marquis d'Angerville
The pioneering Marquis d’Angerville was at the forefront of the struggle to fight corruption and protect standards in the 1920s. He was one of the first to introduce estate bottling. Francois Divivier joined Guillaume d’Angerville; with smaller yields and older vines their Burgundy is silky, aromatic and long lived.

Vinous (91-93)
The 2019 Volnay Fremiet 1er Cru (an anomaly since most producers label as "Les Fremiets") is very engaging on the nose with beautiful potpourri and rose petal infused red fruit that is very well defined. The palate is well balanced with succulent red cherries, cranberry and strawberry. There is a spiciness here that becomes more pronounced towards the finish with white pepper and clove, leaving the mouth tingling long after this Fremiet has departed. Excellent.HK$7,285.00 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2020 Volnay Fremiet 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with redcurrant, raspberry sorbet and sous-bois aromas that offers a subtle balsam element with time. The palate is well balanced, fresh and vibrant with crunchy red berry fruit. Good acidity here, classic in style with a linear finish, a hint of pepperiness on the aftertaste. Give this 4-5 years in bottle before broaching because it has an endearing feisty character.HK$3,195.00 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2021 Volnay Fremiet 1er Cru has a very pure and open bouquet, perfumed red cherry and wild strawberry fruit laced with wilted rose petals. Not powerful yet nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle but insistent grip, more structure than the Clos des Angles with a touch of white pepper towards the finish. Fine persistence. This is a Volnay to cherish over the next 15-20 years.HK$5,140.00 -

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-93)
Bright full red. Red fruit aromas are perked up by pepper and spices. Dense and backward, in a distinctly masculine style. The pepper and spice flavors are given a penetrating quality by the wine's firm spine of acids and tannins. Youthfully imploded today but there's superb red fruit intensity here. Finishes vibrant and long, with slowly expanding fruit and spice flavors. This should evolve gracefully in bottle.HK$7,065.00 -
Wine Advocate (92-94)
The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds has an aloof, almost distant bouquet, laconic at the moment, although you can tell that there is plenty of coiled-up fruit waiting within. The palate is usually expressive (as Guillaume d’Angerville himself remarked.) It is very harmonious and perhaps silkier than the Caillerets, the tannins filigree with great detail and precision on the finish. Long in the mouth, this is a seriously fine, elegant Taillepieds.HK$7,775.00 -

Vinous (92-94)
The 2017 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has perhaps the most "airy" bouquet, it is very transparent at the moment, but the palate is much tighter and backward. There is good backbone here, but it is sulking and it is probably one of the Domaine’s wines that will require the longest bottle age. It has an almost Pommard-like austerity towards the finish. Excellent but one of the more challenging wines from the domaine.HK$9,300.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2017 Volnay Village offers gorgeous red cherries, raspberry coulis and light bergamot aromas on the nose. The palate is well balanced with pure dark cherry and raspberry fruit, crisp acidity, very harmonious with a tender but quite persistent finish.HK$6,735.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2018 Volnay Village comes from two parcels (Grands Champs and Pluchots, the latter recently replanted) close to the Premier Crus, and it sees no new oak. The fragrant bouquet features more black than red fruit, nicely defined with a delicate floral touch. The medium-bodied palate delivers very fine tannins. I appreciate the edginess in this Volnay Village, thanks to the citric acidity and the spiciness that develops on the finish. Lovely.HK$7,105.00 -
Vinous (87-89)
The 2021 Volnay Village has a fragrant nose with delicate red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, well-defined and quintessentially Volnaysian. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, creamy in texture though it is missing a little depth and complexity, as you might expect given the growing season. Pleasant sweetness on the finish, but this is probably best suited for early consumption.HK$5,060.00
