Mascot
This small-production wine was founded by none other than Will Harlan of Napa Valley. The Mascot wine is itself made from the younger vines of Harlan Estate, BOND and promontory and gives buyers & tasters alike a glimpse into the development of these estates.
"Harlan Estate might be the single most profound red wine made not just in California, but in the world." Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
Initially this wine was created as an experiment to observe what the younger vines could produce and was only shared amongst friends and family of the estate.
However, in 2008 Will Harlan decided to release the first vintage to the public as production had increased over time. Only one is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 5 years before release. This wine offers Napa fans an opportunity to peek into the evolution of its more pedigreed parents.
"Winemakers believe that the land speaks to them of possibilities. A winemaker’s goal is to express those possibilities, to capture the best of what the land has to offer." Bob Levy, Director of Winegrowing at Harlan Estate
