    About Mollydooker

Having been proponents of Australia’s most unusually unique cult winery for many years, we are always pleased to see offers of the fabulously fun Mollydooker range consistently sell out. A producer which combines its very serious winemaking with a marvellous sense of humour, Sarah and Sparky Marquis founded this disruptive force within the fine wine world as relatively recently as 2005 to effusive yet divisive praise.

As is often the case, the widespread success of a new, unconventional producer in an industry that prides itself on the prestigious histories and endless pedigrees of its most famous names was met with some consternation from traditionalists. Speaking of the inaugural vintage (2005) a number of years ago, Josh Raynolds (Vinous) wrote that the Mollydooker range was comprised of “the more bizarre wines I have ever tasted”. Long before critical acclaim followed, and follow it did, curious oenophiles with a penchant for larger-than-life wines of raw power and exuberant fruit were joyfully delighting in the world of Mollydooker.

Mollydooker is famed the world over for their unrestrained ABVs, no added sulphites and incredibly rich ripe fruit.

    2006

Mollydooker Carnival Of Love Shiraz 2006 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97)

The 2006 Shiraz “Carnival of Love” was sourced from a single vineyard. The sensational nose, consisting of violets, lilacs, meat, game, leather, blueberry, and chocolate, leaps from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied wine somehow manages to combine power with elegance. The sweet tannins are well-concealed and the finish lasts for at least one minute. It will provide pleasure for 25 years but who will be that patient?

    2018

Mollydooker Carnival Of Love Shiraz 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

Mollydooker's 2018 Carnival of Love Shiraz is more red-fruited and structured than I expected, given the wine's stated 16% alcohol. Raspberries and cedar mark the nose, with hints of chocolate, espresso and baking spices. In the mouth, it's full-bodied, dense and powerful, with ripe but firm tannins supporting the bright berry flavors, then easing into a long, velvety and mouthwatering finish. It should drink well for around a decade, but if you're shy of tannins, you may want to wait another year or two before opening.

Mollydooker Enchanted Path Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (6x75cl)
    HK$2,900.00
    2018

Mollydooker Enchanted Path Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

A blend of 71% Shiraz (the same juice that goes into Carnival of Love) and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Enchanted Path features slightly lifted floral and herbal aromatics and hints of cassis on the nose, while the flavors on the palate are slightly brighter and redder. It's full-bodied, richly textured and intense, with ample extract, plenty of oak and well-ripened tannins, all of which lead to a finish that's long and slightly drying at the moment. Give it another year or two in the cellar, and it should drink well for at least the next 5-6 years after that.

    Mollydooker Shiraz Boxer 2018 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91)

Mollydooker's 2018 The Boxer Shiraz delivers what fans of this producer have come to expect: huge fruit, plenty of ripeness, tasty oak and oodles of flavor. Cedar, chocolate and mint accent cola, plum and berry fruit on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is round, supple and expansive. It's creamy-ripe, yet the wine ends silky and mouthwatering.

Mollydooker The Velvet Glove Shiraz 2018 (3x75cl)
    HK$3,700.00
    2018

Mollydooker The Velvet Glove Shiraz 2018 (3x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

The most dense and concentrated of the current Mollydooker offerings is the 2018 Velvet Glove Shiraz. Because of that, it's also among the most fruit-forward, with the oak elements of vanilla, mocha and cedar pushed into the background in favor of ripe raspberries and blackberries. Taut and focused for its size, this full-bodied effort is smooth and creamy textured on the palate, where the fruit glides into a long, velvety finish.
