    Pagodes de Cos 2008 (12x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (91)

Hard, dark tannins, a good amount of wood and acidity—if that doesn't sound initially promising, the ripe black berry juice and jam flavors come pushing through, creating a powerful, chunky wine.

    Pagodes de Cos 2009 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (94)

The 2009 Pagodes De Cos is a blockbuster that I wish I had more of in the cellar. A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Merlot (there’s a small amount of Petit Verdot) brought up in roughly 50% new French oak, its deep purple/plum color is followed by a smorgasbord of black raspberry and kirsch like fruits, spice box, dried flowers and licorice. With a huge mid-palate, sweet, sweet tannin, beautiful purity of fruit, and a great finish, it’s an incredibly sexy, satisfying second wine that will keep for another 10-15 years.

    Pagodes de Cos 2010 (12x75cl)

    Wine Spectator (92-95)

This is sleek along the edges and dense in the middle, with ample crushed cherry, red currant and melted red licorice notes. A bright floral edge chimes in on the long finish. An impressive second wine. A little more Merlot than usual (62 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 38 percent Merlot). Tasted non-blind. Score range: 92-95

    Stephen Tanzer - Vinous (90)

(65% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot and 2% petit verdot; 70% of total production; 3.4 g/l total acidity; 3.55 pH; 71 IPT; 13.3% alcohol): Bright ruby. Very fresh aromas of blackcurrant, minerals and cinnamon. Fresh and pure wine in a polite style, with sneaky concentration of flavor. Finishes with very good length. Pagodes has been on a roll of late.

    Pagodes de Cos 2013 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (87-90)

Bright red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and earthy notes meld together in the 2013 Les Pagodes de Cos. This supple, textured wine offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal. This mid-weight, juicy wine is resonant and expressive. The 2013 Pagodes will drink well early because of its textural softness, but it also has enough depth to drink well for a number of years. Pagodes is 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot

    Pagodes de Cos 2015 (6x75cl)

    Antonio Galloni - Vinous (93)

A big, enveloping wine, the 2015 Pagodes de Cos wraps around the palate with serious depth and intensity. The flavors are rich, voluptuous in this bold Saint-Estèphe. Mocha, black cherry, plum, licorice and menthol meld into the voluptuous, creamy finish. This is a highly appealing second wine from Cos. The blend is 46% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.

A red with very deep and intense fruit character, yet rich tannins to back it all up. Full-bodied, layered and powerful. The second wine of Cos d’Estournel is serious again in 2016. Try from 2025.

    Jancis Robinson (17)

Much more scented than the Goulée just tasted, with lovely dark-red fruits here. Sweet cassis and a light floral note. Delicate but harmonious structure, cool and silky, extremely silky, very fresh, apparently delicate but persistent too. Elegant and fresh right to the finish. Succulent and beautifully balanced.

    Pagodes de Cos 2021 (12x37.5cl)

    Vinous (AG) (91-94)

The 2021 Les Pagodes de Cos is a gorgeous second wine. Blackberry, gravel, spice, menthol and licorice all run through the 2021, a wine that is marked by notable freshness and bright acids. Beams of supporting tannin give the wine its energy. There is plenty of Merlot-driven richness, but I suspect the 2021 will need a few years to come together. It is far from an easygoing second wine, that much is pretty clear.
