The Confidences de Prieure Lichine 2020 is an exquisite expression of the prestigious Margaux appellation, hailing from the renowned vineyards of Château Prieuré-Lichine. Masterfully crafted from the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, this embodiment of fine French winemaking reveals a stunning breadth of vibrant dark berry flavours enriched by subtle oak undertones. The wine's enticing palette is testimony to the austerely traditional vinification techniques employed. Each grape is hand-harvested at optimal maturity, followed by meticulous fermentation and an aging process in French oak barrels, enhancing the inherent complexity of the wine. The Confidences de Prieure Lichine 2020 pays homage to its legendary winemaker, Alexis Lichine, famed for his revolutionising influence on the wines of Bordeaux. The result – a robust, yet elegant, wine bearing an intelligently crafted balance of intensity and refinement. It truly delivers an unparalleled vinous experience. |

James Suckling (93)Complex aromas of blueberry, raspberry, and coffee follow through to a full body with soft and velvety tannins and a long juicy finish. So yummy right now, but give it another three to five years. Find the wine |

Decanter (96)This balances the generosity of damson and cassis on one side, with elegance and freshness on the other – the hardest thing to get right in a wine. Notes of eucalyptus, liquorice and spice on the finish, this is just delicious. It showcases the succulence of the vintage, which was given a springboard by the work done at the château. The grapes were harvested over four weeks, compared to just three in 2010, which was also an exceptional vintage. However 2015 received a lot more plot-by-plot work and also produced higher yields – 42hl/h compared to 32hl/h in 2010 – giving the fruit more capacity to develop. For me this is clearly the best wine I have ever tasted from the property. Made using 50% new oak barrels. |
