    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2008 (6x75cl)

      Wine Advocate (94)

Groffier’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses shows stunning balance in its layers of intricately perfumed fruit. This is a totally beguiling wine laced with extraordinary elegance and an inviting, captivating personality. Sweet, fragrant fruit lingers on the delicate yet tense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2009 (1x75cl)

      Wine Advocate (93)

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is a bit unusual for this site. The fruit shows more depth, concentration and overt richness than most wines from this vineyard. The signature perfume emerges with time, but this remains a wine essentially built on an intense core of fruit. Groffier used 10% stems here. The finish shows a little heat, which is the only thing that keeps the score from going higher. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2014 (3x75cl)

      Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96)

Dense dark purple, rich fruit, there is a touch of something tough on the nose. This is very powerful wine, with a heady dense dark red fruit, then some floral notes. The wood returns behind. Surprisingly inaccessible in some ways but potentially very fine. The backwardness of the bouquet disappears with time in the glass.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2015 (6x75cl)

      Vinous (94)

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is showing quite a lot of reduction on the nose, which is quite savory at first, with hints of dried blood infusing the black and blue fruit. The focused, well-balanced palate is full of energy, delivering very fine, supple tannin and a perfectly pitched line of acidity. It doesn’t quite deliver the complexity one would expect, although the finish is undoubtedly refined and persistent. Good potential, but it needs five years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2016 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (97)

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with red cherries, raspberry and touches of crushed strawberry. The wine comes across as well defined if just missing some joie-de-vivre that thankfully evolves with time. Conservative for an Amoureuses, but that is a virtue because there is a beguiling effortlessness here. And that translates across to the palate: very well judged acidity, structured and with disarming purity and elegance on the sensual finish. Complete. Stunning. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2017 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (96)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a tight, quite backward nose that demands more coaxing than Christophe Roumier's Les Amoureuses , but it is easy to fall for the dark brambly fruit mixed with sous-bois and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, zesty and quite citric, offering desiccated orange peel and blood orange flavors. Fresh and sorbet-like on the finish. This Les Amoureuses should age with style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

      Vinous (96)

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is quite heady on the nose, though just stops short of overripeness. There's just a soupçon of VA, that gives it a bit of lift. There may be some grilled berries here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, quite compact and sinewy for an Amoureuses. Then, it gradually reveals amplitude and complexity towards the finish. Give it another couple of years to see if there is improvement, but there is pedigree. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2020 (1x75cl)

      Vinous (95-97)

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru comes from 80-years old vines that was harvest over five morning, one hour each day and vinified in the same vat of course. Blended with 50% whole bunch and matured in 25% new oak, it has a well-defined bouquet with rose petals, red berry fruit, just a very faint hints of menthol in the far distance. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh and vibrant, lightly spiced towards the finish that feels linear and strict. This Amoureuses does not want to give too much away at the moment but the length in the mouth cannot be denied and augurs well for the future.

    • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2021 (6x75cl)

      Vinous (92-94)

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is matured with 40% whole clusters in 100% new oak. Again, the stems have a strong sway over the nascent aromatics, but there is sufficient fruit underneath to absorb that with age. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine detail, taut and fresh, and quite saline. Not an intense Les Amoureuses but I find some similarities to Christophe Roumier's that I tasted just an hour earlier.

A juicy, supple wine, the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix is totally expressive in the glass. Sweet raspberries, spices, flowers and mint all meld together in a gracious, silky Burgundy long on class. Here, too, Groffier achieves lovely polish and silkiness. Sweet floral notes meld in the resonant finish.

      Wine Advocate (92)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Groffier's 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Hauts Doix is much more pure on the nose compared to the Les Groseilles from Digioia-Royer, sporting lifted red cherries, wild strawberry and raspberry preserves—vigorous and very focused. The palate is pure and sensual on the entry, the acidity very well judged, with a caressing and long finish laden with black fruit. It needs another couple of years to absorb the oak, but it will be worth the wait. Tasted September 2017.

The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity. It is not the most complex Chambolle-Musigny, but it feels approachable and flatters the senses. The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru includes 25% new oak and around 50% whole bunch and represented the first vines to be picked this vintage; the alcohol is under 13.0° at the moment. This has a beautifully defined, well-focused and quite mineral-driven bouquet packed full of blackberry and raspberry fruit. The palate is full of primal energy, the red fruit framed by succulent tannins that form an almost corpulent finish, which disguises the structure underneath. • Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Hauts Doix 2020 (2x75cl)

      Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)

The second vineyard to be picked, 50% whole bunch vinification, with 25% new wood. This is a draining sandy soil which gets direct sun only in the morning, so not hot but dry. 12.8% alcohol. A dense dark black purple. For the moment the whole bunches speak quite loudly. Dark fruit, rather exciting, shows the oak a bit, not all together but there is a lot of wine here. When this does come together it will be rather impressive. Tasted: December 2021

      Wine Advocate (92+)

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers presents the more intense side of Chambolle. Layers of dark fruit emerge from this muscular, deep wine. There is fabulous richness in the glass, along with some of the sheer structure that is typical of Bonnes Mares, the vineyard that sits just above. The Sentiers seems built for the long haul. Knockout aromatics linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.
