Vinous (89-92)(in tank) Good full red. Reduced smoky, meaty nose. A step up in lift and juiciness from the Rognet, with a suave, fine-grained texture and enticing inner-mouth aromatic character. Offers a pleasing combination of supple texture and energy. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins. Showing very well considering that it was racked three days before my visit.

Vinous (91-93)(all destemmed): Medium red. Complex if reticent aromas of redcurrant, minerals, smoked meat and pepper. Sweet on entry, then quite firm in the middle, showing hints of candied fruit. The chewy, firm but ripe tannins really clamp down on the finish today. A distinctly intellectual calcaire style of wine.

Vinous (90-92)From the bottom side of the commune, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Croix des Champs includes 55–60% of whole cluster. It has a clean, precise bouquet of perfumed red cherry and raspberry fruit, displaying commendable mineralité. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and brambly red fruit laced with white pepper toward the elegant finish. Promising.

Vinous (89-91)The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte includes 40% whole cluster fruit. It has an expressive bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry preserve and crushed stone aromas, impressive for a village cru. The palate is standoffish at first, but opens up with aeration, turning smooth in texture; vanilla pod and orange pith pop up on the charming, quite forward finish.

Vinous (89-91)The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte includes 45% whole bunch this year. It has a well-defined bouquet that displays wonderful Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine grip and hints of marmalade toward the finish, which feels a little stern at the moment but should soften once in bottle.

Vinous (87-89)The 2018 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots is a mix of Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits Saint-Georges fruit, and it had been racked two weeks prior to my visit in December. It has a pretty raspberry and cranberry bouquet, floral in style, with subtle vanilla notes emerging with time; you cannot detect the 20% whole bunch. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit, and the whole bunch lends freshness and a subtle pepperiness toward the finish. Very fine.

Vinous (85-87)The 2019 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots comprises one-third Nuits Saint-Georges and two-thirds Chambolle-Musigny, with 20% whole bunch and no remontage in the winery. It has a very airy bouquet that I feel just needs more presence and fruité. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins. A mellow Bourgogne Rouge that will be approachable in its youth.

Vinous (87-89)A mix of fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, now with Hautes-Côtes fruit to impart freshness, the 2020 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots has a slightly earthy, ash-tinged bouquet that takes time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, touch of marmalade and quince with a fresh but not long finish. Fine.

Vinous (87-89)The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes includes 40% whole bunch from vines planted between 1954 and 1962. It has a marine-influenced nose that needs to gel more during barrel aging. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and good grip but requires a little more refinement.

Vinous (92+)Bright, dark red. Youthfully sullen nose offers slightly inky scents of red cherry, minerals and earth. Then fresher than the nose suggests and extremely unevolved on the palate, conveying very good energy and a chewy quality to its sharply delineated berry, red licorice and saline mineral flavors. The wine's serious building tannins are going to require extended cellaring.

Vinous (90-92)The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin En Créot is a debut release that is completely de-stemmed that underwent a gentle vinification. It has quite a lively bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and flinty aromas, good tension here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, smooth in texture with a touch of white pepper and bay leaf towards the finish, dessicated orange peel lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine.

Vinous (86-88)The 2019 Bourgognes Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Clos du Prieuré, from the west side of Nuits Saint-Georges, has a taut nose that disguises the high alcohol (over 14.0°). The palate is very promising, offering dark berry fruit, good substance and candied orange peel toward the finish. The aromatics just have to open up by the time of bottling.

Vinous (86-88)The 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes was reduced by 60% in quantity by frost. A mix of six parcels with 40% whole cluster, it offers quite earthy red berry fruit on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit, fine grip and sour cherry toward the finish. Give this a year in bottle.

Vinous (95)The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has an impressive and quite captivating bouquet with open-knit tertiary red berry fruit, hints of leather and sous-bois, just so involving that you cannot extract your nose from the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced with seamless tannin, superb acidity, the new oak present but seamless integrated with a satin-like finish that you might conflate with a wine from Vosne-Romanée. Outstanding. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru includes 40% whole cluster fruit, the most that Thibaut has used thus far. Matured in 60% new oak, it has a refined bouquet of pure black cherries, black currant, briar and crushed granite aromas, almost chalky in style. The palate is medium-bodied with immediate mineralité that alerts the senses. This is not a subtle Les Saint-Georges; it races out of the blocks with vivacious, almost flint-infused dark berry fruit and touches of bergamot and chai tea toward the sustained finish. Excellent.

Vinous (93)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a superb bouquet of brambly red fruit, quite ferrous in style, displaying hints of dried blood and meat juices. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite firm in the mouth and very saline, though it is closed on the finish. Nevertheless, this has great potential.
