Villa Maria
About Villa Maria
Founded by George Fistonich in 1961 with just a single hectare of vines, the rapid ascent of Villa Maria has been nothing short of astonishing and today it stands proudly as one of New Zealand’s most decorated wineries. Named one of the World’s 50 Great Wine Producers by the Wine Spectator in 2004, it was also awarded the title of New Zealand Wine Company of the Year in 2019.
Having grown to the producer we love and admire today, Villa Maria produces an impressive range of wines at various price points, at the top of which sits Keltern Chardonnay as their top Chardonnay. Produced from vines planted in 1999, the Keltern Chardonnay boasts impressive concentration thanks to a ruthless pruning regime retaining just one bunch of grapes per shoot! Despite the youth of the vines, the quality of Keltern Chardonnay has improved by leaps and bounds over recent vintages, Joe Czerwinski even goes as far as to say "Villa Maria is undoubtedly one of New Zealand's great success stories".

The Real Review (96)
Deep, dark red/purple colour, excellent hue, and the bouquet is classic cabernet sauvignon: cedar, blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco and a trace of seaweed or nori. Coffee grounds later. Concentrated and powerful, this is a majestic cabernet, with tremendous concentration, fleshy extract and drive. It fills the mouth to overflowing. A great wine in the making and a triumph for a straight cabernet sauvignon from this region.HK$4,285.00 -

Intense yet surprisingly accessible red with cassis, blackberry, cedar, vanilla, black cherry, and spicy French oak flavours. Powerful yet elegant wine with strong varietal identity. Should develop well with bottle age.HK$2,955.00
