  • De Trafford Syrah 393 2010 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90)

(15.7% alcohol; aged for 22 months in 50% new oak; 4 g/l r.s.): Full ruby-red. Musky blueberry, black raspberry, mocha, licorice pastille and violet on the nose, plus a hint of smoked meat. Very sweet, concentrated dark berry and pepper flavors show a slight warmth and liqueur-like ripeness leavened by firm acidity. Densely packed and filled in but not heavy. Finishes with serious tongue-dusting tannins and excellent length. I suspect this will be better once it absorbs some of its baby fat and early sweetness.

  • De Trafford Syrah 393 2011 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91)

Saturated ruby. Musky blackberry, blueberry, mocha, gunflint, black pepper and underbrush on the nose. Plush, smooth and deep, with superripe flavors of black raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate and sexy smoky oak. Utterly seamless Syrah with serious but fine-grained tannins and excellent lingering sweetness. Really stains the palate with sweet dark fruits.

  • De Trafford Syrah 393 2012 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91)

The 2012 Syrah 393 is de-stemmed and crushed gently, undergoing malolactic fermentation in the barrel. It has a tightly wound, mint-fresh, more floral bouquet compared directly to the 2012 Blueprint Syrah. The palate is well balanced with slightly lighter and more tensile tannin structure, brisk and lively with moderate depth. It offers vibrant black fruit towards the finish and a lingering balsam aftertaste, completing a well-crafted Syrah that should give 8-10 years of pleasure.

  • De Trafford Syrah 393 2013 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91+)

(15% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Perfumed scents of blueberry, cassis, violet, pepper and licorice. Juicy, brisk and concentrated, with the dark berry and licorice flavors showing surprising energy and lift for the high alcohol. At once powerful and fine-grained, finishing with dusty, building tannins and lingering black fruit and violet perfume. This very young wine possesses a serious tannic spine for aging but is already nicely delineated. An excellent Syrah in a black fruit style. The tannins turn a bit dusty with aeration.

  • De Trafford Syrah 393 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2015 Syrah 393 includes 10% whole bunch fruit and was matured for 12 months in 40% new fine-grain French oak with a light toasting, and then transferred into used oak for another nine months. It has a very attractive bouquet of blackberry, blueberry, crushed violet and vanilla scents that are pure and opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, and quite harmonious and smooth, delivering good density while not compromising on fruit. This is still quite backward and deserves another couple of years in bottle, but there is good potential here.

4.5* Altitude of rocky, steep, partly terraced home-vineyard on Mont Fleur farm inspires the name of this celebrated syrah, deftly marries richness and power with refinement. Full-ripe blackcurrant and raspberry, spicy hint of liquorice, fine tannis boding well for the future. 12 months in 40% new barrels.

  • Delaforce 2000 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90)

Full medium ruby. Roasted black raspberry and cassis lifted by musky espresso and an exotic smoky, peaty element. Dense and rich; sweet and approachable but with shape and grip. A bit youthfully grapey in the mouth, with smoke and earth notes. Finishes with building, slightly austere tannins and very good length. (Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY)

  • Digby Fine English Brut NV NV (12x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The NV Brut is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier grown in Hampshire and Sussex on greensand and chalk. A small proportion of the wine was fermented in oak. Exquisite purity of ripe but tart russet apple and creamy Golden Delicious flesh blend into a lovely unity on the nose, promising and refreshing at once. The palate adds a beautiful savory nature that reminds one of toasted pecans with an edge of maple syrup. This blends exquisitely well with the apple notes, especially that wonderful apple tartness. Fine mousse makes the wine creamy and presents an elegant, bright and refreshing wine with rounded, sonorous flavors and lasting length. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2025.
  • Digby Fine English Reserve Brut 2014 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2014 Brut Vintage Reserve was picked in Hampshire, Dorset, Kent and Sussex. It is a blend of 62% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Noir and 17% Pinot Meunier, chiefly from Hampshire and Dorset, with smaller Chardonnay portions from Kent and Sussex. A small proportion of the wine was fermented in oak and it spent eight years on lees. Gentle smoke and lemony creaminess on the nose come with a backdrop of Viennoiserie. Bright lemon defines the palate, where that smoky backdrop lingers while the vivid bubbles burst with freshness and verve. Everything about this is youthful and sprightly, superbly fresh and vivid. Chalkiness makes a lovely appearance on the mid-palate, while the finish rings with brisk freshness and resonant length. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 2024.

  • Donatsch Pinot Noir Malans Unique 2021 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94+)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Malans Unique opens with a coolish and herbal bouquet with leafy notes and redcurrant aromas and indicates a less generous wine compared to the 2022. The 2021 is less juicy on the palate and characterized more by its transparency, frisky finesse and tension than juiciness and suppleness. The wine is still a bit thrifty on the palate at this early stage and reminiscent of the 2010, but it indicates more intensity and power. The concentrated and dense 2021, with its astringent tannins and firm acidity structure, is definitely a wine to age. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2024.
  • Donatsch Pinot Noir Tradition 2021 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (89+)

Predominantly sourced in Malans and a little bit in Jenins and destemmed but fermented as whole berries in enameled steel vats for 14–20 days, the 2021 Pinot Noir Tradition offers a pure, fresh and spicy, refreshing phenolic nose of red cherries and wild berries. Aged in used pièces for nine months and bottled in September last year, this is an elegant, fresh and straightforward Pinot Noir with a silky texture and refreshing phenolic grip. It's still a very young but promising wine for everyday and more. 13.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork stopper. Tasted at the domaine in Malans, February 2023.

  • Donnhoff Dellchen Riesling GG 2019 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95-96)

The 2019 Riesling GG Dellchen is enormously fine and elegant on the subtle but fascinatingly complex nose that intertwines stony notes with yellow-fleshed stone fruit aromas. On the palate, this is an intense, highly finessed and elegant Dellchen with incredibly refined juiciness and great balance and purity. The finish is very long and complex but keeps the finesse and purity. Very stimulating and salty—a great Dellchen GG and one of the finest I have had from Cornelius Dönnhoff! Tasted as a sample in Bremen, April 2020.

The 2023 Riesling Norheimer Dellchen Grosses Gewächs is grown on porphyry with a shale cover. The vines are sheltered and have underground aquifers. A tender lemon zest note holds traces of white summer blossom, wet stone and a touch of chervil—beautifully tender. The slender palate, likewise, is lemon-dominated, bright, sunny and friendly in its citric smile. The 2023 is agile, tingling and slender with a subtle stoniness. This is as wonderfully pervasive, tart and palate-cleansing as lemon sorbet. (Bone-dry)
