Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2018 Le Crock offers plenty of Saint-Estèphe character in its brambly red berry fruit and burly, but well-balanced tannins. Cedar, tobacco, smoke and earthy notes add quite a bit of aromatic presence. This is an especially rich, potent edition because of dry, warm east winds that caused dehydration, thereby lowering yields. There is plenty of personality here. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (93)Delivers confident St Estèphe tannins and swagger together with a gourmet richness that is pretty irresistible. Great quality, with liquorice, turmeric, cinnamon spice, along with damson and black berry fruits, wrapped up in cocoa bean and smoked oak pleasure. One to look out for, from the same owners as Léoville Poyferré in St Julien. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94)Due to the high quality of all the parcels, there's no second wine from Château Le Crock in 2022. The 2022 Château Le Crock is certainly no worse for it, revealing a beautiful purple hue as well as medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe currants, violets, graphite, and black cherries, with a kiss of classic Saint-Estèphe damp earth. It's balanced and has ripe, building tannins and a great finish. It will keep for 20-25 years with ease. |

Wine Advocate (92)A brilliant effort (along with the 2000, one of the finest I have yet tasted from this estate), this 1,000 case blend of 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot is fashioned by Jonathan Malthus. Most of the Cabernet Franc emerges from a vineyard near Angelus. It possesses a deep ruby/purple color as well as a striking perfume of menthol, blueberries, red currants, and minerals. Elegant, concentrated, and ripe, but neither overly weighty nor excessively heady, it is a stylish, Burgundian-like, vivacious St.-Emilion with tremendous aromatic complexity and flavors. It should be at its finest in 2-3 years, and last for 14-15. |

Bordeaux | 1 | 98 (WA) | HK$16,165.00
Wine Advocate (98)From the famous flagship estate of Jonathan Malthus, this wine normally has about 75% or more Cabernet Franc in the blend and the rest Merlot. With the great aromatic expression of the vintage, the 2005 Le Dôme offers up a smashing fireworks-like display of spring flowers, blueberries, forest floor, raspberries and cherries. Dense purple in color, medium to full-bodied, light on its feet, but super-intense and rich, this wine performed fabulously well, and is one of the superstars and profound efforts of the vintage. It is actually somewhat approachable, which is not always the case with many 2005s. Drink it over the next 20 years. |

Bordeaux | 1 | 99 (WA) | HK$20,470.00
Wine Advocate (99)One of the most distinctive wines made in Bordeaux, Le Dome has one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc of any claret I can think of. Composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, it exhibits a certain delicacy and elegance (due to the Cabernet Franc component) in addition to resounding power, concentration, depth and multidimensional personality. Black/purple to the rim, it offers strikingly intense notes of spring flowers, raspberries, mulberries and wood smoke, medium to full body, sweet tannin and a cunning intensity and texture that suggest finesse and delicacy. However, the wine’s richness, length and lingering depth build incrementally in this exceptional St.-Emilion. It will be drinkable in 4-5 years and should age for two decades or more. This is Jonathan Malthus’ finest wine to date. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-95)The 80% Cabernet Franc-based Le Dôme is aromatically precise, nuanced and savory, yet also possesses remarkable richness. Bold and super-expressive, the 2014 hits all the right notes, deftly balancing intense fruit, lifted aromatics and precise, piercing minerality. This is a fabulous showing from Jonathan Maltus. Le Dôme is 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95)The single vineyard 2017 Le Dome checks in as a normal blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot brought up in 80% new French oak, with the balance in once-used oak. This deeply colored 2017 has a spicy, complex style as well as medium to full body, lots of red, black, and blue fruits, building tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It shows more floral and incense notes with time in the glass, has plenty of structure, and is a beautifully classy, layered 2017 that's going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. |

Wine Advocate (97-99)Le Dome is from the JCP Maltus portfolio of skillfully crafted Saint-Émilion wines. Neil White is the head winemaker and Thomas Duclos is a consultant here. The 2018 Le Dome is composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, with a 3.82 pH and 14.3% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little coy in the beginning, requiring considerable coaxing to allow fragrant earth, rose hip tea, preserved plums and raspberry pie notions to emerge, giving way to notes of pencil shavings, woodsmoke and camphor. Full-bodied, firm and finely grained, the profound palate is sparked by energetic mineral and red fruit notes, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and just enough acidity to lift the very long, very fragrant finish. |
