Nicolas Potel's négociant wine. 'No chaptalisation and no filtration therefore the most natural wines we've made for years. Some winemakers make a comparison with 2003 – but there were more than 100 days between flowering and picking in 2007 and 2008. 2007 was less delicate than we thought; I was tempted to bottle in September but found the wines were not ready.' Much more delicate than the Clos St-Denis. Wild strawberry fruit aromas plus delicate spice, and then more marked spice on the palate. All in a restrained and scented style and leading to a lingering finish and very fine tannins.HK$28,790.00 -

(100% destemmed): Good deep red. Aromas of black raspberry and bitter chocolate are accented by menthol and fresh herbs; more peppery than the Fremiers. Then juicy and dense but youthfully imploded on the palate. Shows a seamless, weightless, rather refined texture but comes across as less open and chewy than the Fremiers today. Finishes with suave tannins and a light touch. Rossignol eschews vinifying this wine with stems as it's naturally taut and he's afraid of hardening it.HK$7,560.00 -

The 2017 Volnay Clos des Angles 1er Cru was the only Premier Cru that Rossignol had bottled in August 2018. It has an open, expressive crushed strawberry and raspberry bouquet, not the most complex on the block. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple opening, the 50% whole cluster fruit beautifully assimilated, leading to a poised and quite sustained finish. Worth seeking out. Medium to full-bodied, lively and perfumed, it's velvety and charming, with melting tannins and an ample core of fruit. Burghound (93-95)
Very ripe aromas of cassis, black berry liqueur, violet and anise precede the equally broad-shouldered flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract on the powerful, hugely long and very serious finish that is shaped by a markedly firm tannic spine. This is a buy and forget you own it wine as I would suggest not touching a bottle for at least 10 years. With that said, this is most impressive.HK$4,850.00 -

I was blown away by the elegance and subtleness of the 2021 Charme, I wine I know quite well and have followed from the first vintage (I think even a non-commercial release in the beginning). It's a red wine produced in Vale Mendiz where they make the Port, a mixture of vineyards from the village. It had a very short maceration of the full clusters in lagar, was pressed to barrels where it finished fermenting and was put through malolactic, was kept in barrel for nine months and then was transferred to the cellar in Quinta de Napoles. It has a very elegant and perfumed style, with no oak whatsoever. It's floral, with notes of red berries and herbs and a medium-bodied palate with refined, elegant tannins and a long and supple finish with a spicy twist (from the barrels? some 15% to 20% new). This wine has been changing through the years, and this has to be the most elegant version of it, following the path of the 2018. It has a moderate 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.56 and 5.7 grams of acidity. 9,700 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2023. Superb!HK$3,010.00 -
