Intoxicating scents of caramel, violets, smoke, licorice, plum and maraschino cherries take almost no time to find. Pure silk and velvet on the palate, the wine is seriously concentrated with an elegant, refined, fresh, tannic, rich, well defined, profile that has a lot more to say than it lets on for the moment. If I had to sum the wine up in a single word, compelling wold not do it justice. 5-10 years will add a lot to this already sublime wine.HK$70,215.00 -

Another utterly heavenly wine from this estate is the 2019 Château Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot coming from a selection of just 37% of the total production. Deep purple, with an incredible array of ripe currants, blueberries, sweet tobacco, sandalwood, and toasted spices, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, powerful, yet incredibly sexy mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. As I wrote in the barrel review, it reminds me slightly of the 2016, but has a touch more sun-kissed profile. It already offers incredible pleasure yet deserves 4-6 years of bottle age and will blow you away any time over the coming 40+ years.HK$7,500.00 -
Experience the embodiment of elegance with the Marie et Pierre Benetiere Syrah Cordeloux 2016. Crafted in the Northern Rhône Valley region of France by vintner duo Marie and Pierre Benetiere, this limited-production wine hails from vineyards of schistous soils, grown organically. The grapes are hand-picked and naturally fermented, yielding a wine that mirrors its terroir impeccably. Its luscious bouquet of black cherries, violet, leather, and smoky pepper draws you into a rich, complex palate with robust tannins and an enduring mineral finish. There's a remarkable purity to this wine, instilled by its thoughtful producers, reflecting their passion and dedication to the craftsmanship of fine Syrah wine. Quite simply, the Marie et Pierre Benetiere Syrah Cordeloux 2016 is a testament to the illustrious quality and potential of Condrieu Syrah wines. Savour and appreciate this magnificent example of French oenology.

A rock star Margaux that should be snatched up by readers, the 2018 Château Marquis D'Alesme reveals a dense purple hue as well as ripe, sexy notes of blackcurrants, spicy oak, tobacco leaf, earth, and cedar. Deep, full-bodied, and gorgeously concentrated, it has velvety tannins, a layered, mouthcoating texture, and a great finish. It's a baby, but wow, what a wine. Hide bottle for 5-7 years if you can (you'll be forgiven for opening a bottle early) and it's going to evolve for 30-40 years.HK$4,800.00 -
Wine Advocate (93)
The 2009 Volnay Caillerets is one of the subtler polished wines in this lineup. A model of weightless elegance, it presents hints of rose petals, sweet red cherries, licorice and minerals, all wrapped up in a sensual package that is impossible to resist. The wine’s understated finesse and inner sense of energy are both remarkable. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029.HK$18,000.00 -
Wine Enthusiast (94)
This is a beautiful wine. Stylish and elegant, it has structure while at the same time impressive fruitiness. The velvety tannins go with the crisp black-currant fruits. It will certainly age well and should be drinkable from 2026.HK$3,600.00 -

Aromas of cherries and berries mingle with notions of licorice, spices and sweet soil tones to introduce the 2019 Morgon Côte du Py, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated wine that's seamless and complete, with lively acids, ripe tannins and a long, sapid finish. Serious and compelling, it's a terrific effort from Mee Godard.HK$3,100.00 -
Experience a remarkable bottling from the respected cellars of Michel Gros with the Hautes Cotes de Nuits Fontaine Saint Martin Blanc 2016. Originating from Burgundy, France, this white wine is an astounding vintage, synonymous with Gros' family tradition of excellence cultivated since 1830. The intricately layered bouquet is provided by the terroir-reflective Chardonnay grapes, diligently hand-harvested to ensure optimum maturity and quality. Aged for a year in lightly toasted barrels, the result is an expressive, elegant, and meticulously balanced wine. Delicate, yet rich, flavours of citrus and honey mingle with the buttery undertones, culminating in a seamlessly smooth finish. A quintessential companion to seafood and white meat dishes, Michel Gros Hautes Cotes de Nuits Fontaine Saint Martin Blanc 2016 is a captivating Bleu Blanc Rouge revelation that continues the family heritage of novel, pristine Chardonnay wines.

Everything you'd expect from a Merlot presented by Mollydooker. Big, voluptuous and uncompromising, yes; but it does maintain varietal correctness. Showing Deep red and black fruit mingled with some cocoa powder and spicy clove elements. Delicious.HK$4,000.00

Mollydooker's 2018 The Boxer Shiraz delivers what fans of this producer have come to expect: huge fruit, plenty of ripeness, tasty oak and oodles of flavor. Cedar, chocolate and mint accent cola, plum and berry fruit on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is round, supple and expansive. It's creamy-ripe, yet the wine ends silky and mouthwatering.HK$2,850.00 -
Wine Advocate (95)
The only one of the Mollydooker wines that even hints at needing some bottle age is the 2016 Velvet Glove Shiraz. Hints of hay or alfalfa mark the nose, along with huge raspberry and blueberry fruit. It's full-bodied, rich and tannic on the palate, picking up hints of chocolate and raisin on the long finish. I wouldn't suggest cellaring it too long, in case the dried-fruit notes come too much to the fore.HK$2,000.00 -
Kerin O'Keefe (94)
Made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo grown 450-570m above sea level, this radiant red opens with heady scents of camphor, red berry, wild herb and spice. Linear and focused, the elegant, racy palate has a pristine quality, delivering strawberry, orange zest and white pepper alongside bright acidity and lithe tannins. The organically-farmed vines are the estate’s youngest at fifteen years old. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in concrete tanks with no temperature control while aging occurs in French and Slavonian casks. The results are a wine with an enticing purity of flavors and class. Drink through 2031.HK$3,000.00 -
The Wine Independent (100)
The 2010 Montrose is composed of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a lot of swirling and coaxing to bring out notes of baked plums, boysenberry preserves, warm cassis, and licorice, followed by hints of mocha, tapenade, crushed rocks, and cast-iron pan. The full-bodied palate has a formidable structure of very firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the voluptuous black fruit and mineral layers, finishing long, long, long.HK$21,500.00 -
The Wine Independent (100)
A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Montrose is deep garnet-purple in color. It comes tearing out of the glass with rambunctious scents of creme de cassis, juicy blackberries, and blueberry pie, leading to hints of menthol, dark chocolate, licorice, and tree bark with a touch of crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is chock full of bright black fruits with loads of spicy sparks and a firm, wonderfully velvety texture, finishing long and energetic.HK$17,435.00 -
The Wine Cellar Insider (98)
Deep and shiny in color, tobacco leaf, cedar wood, pencil shavings and dark fruits appear with no effort at all. Full bodied, lively, vibrant and juicy fruits, this wine is long and intrepid with a strong tannic backbone. The tannins are perfectly polished and there is an established purity of fruit and a structure to age for decades. Like all the top vintages of Montrose, you will need to allow it time in the cellar, at least 10 to15 years, which in the world of Montrose is almost forward. The wine was made from blending 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, reaching 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.65. The Grand Vin was made from 37% of the harvest, which took place September 12 to September 29.HK$14,400.00 -
James Suckling (92-93)
This is crazy stuff with a super lively acidity and then plenty of fruit and alcohol. Minerally and fruity at the same time. Excellent purity. One of the best ever from here.HK$4,500.00 -
Halliday Wine Companion (99)
'Arguably, one of the greatest red vintages in living memory', says Mount Pleasant. The flagship wine. Destemmed and crushed, short cold soak, open-fermented, matured in large format French oak (30% new) for 18 months. Has the gently throbbing power of a Rolls Royce; superb, deep crimson-purple hue, itself rare in the Hunter Valley. Countless layers of black fruits have absorbed the oak and put the undoubted tannins into limbo land. O'Shea would have died a happy man had this been his last wine. Dissecting it now is an academic exercise at best, so great is its future. This is as close to a 100-year potential as you are ever likely to find.HK$1,402.00 -
Wine Enthusiast (97)
#23 in top 100 wines of 2015 This is a beautifully opulent wine, great Mouton in its richness and succulent fruits. It's combines structure and obvious new-wood aging with hugely ripe black plum and currant flavors. While it is a pleasure to taste now, there is a great tannic structure in the background to give the sense of power and aging potential. Drink from 2024.HK$5,165.00 -
Wine Spectator (92-95)
Superfleshy but very direct, with long, racy raspberry ganache and red currant notes. Almost flashy, but stays focused through the long finish. Tasted non-blind. Score range: 92-95HK$7,600.00 -
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90-93)
Good deep red. Slightly reduced aromas of strawberry, smoke, mocha and minerals. Supple and sweet, but with a peppery element and firm tannic spine giving shape to the raspberry and strawberry fruit. Finishes solid, aromatic and long, with tannins that reach the front teeth.HK$2,300.00 -
James Suckling (93)
This is very silky and refined with chocolate, meat and coffee aromas and flavors, but it's so refined and beautiful. Impressive for its delicate complexity. Drink now or hold.HK$1,300.00 -

The 2017 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is bright, floral and nicely lifted, with plenty of red cherry pie and berry character. Medium in body and wiry - perhaps because of its recent bottling - the 2017 has plenty to recommend it. This is a gorgeous wine in its peer group.HK$8,235.00 -
Wine Advocate (94)
The 1966 La Chapelle's bouquet possessed the most spectacular and persistent aromas of any wine in the vertical tasting. Dried herbs, new saddle leather, soy, roasted duck, grilled steak, and copious quantities of cassis, blackberry, and prune notes soared from the glass of this spectacularly fragrant effort. The promise exhibited by the bouquet did not come through on the palate. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of life remaining in this glycerin-imbued, expansive, lush, low acid, concentrated La Chapelle.HK$15,000.00 -

Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and slate are some of the many notes that are woven throughout the 2014 Pavillon Blanc. The interplay of bright, citrus-driven flavors and palate texture is compelling. This is the first vintage in which a portion of the Blanc was aged in 500-liter barrels, a format that helps preserve freshness and tension. In early 2015, I thought the Pavillon Blanc could be the most compelling of Margaux's 2014s. I still feel the same way.HK$2,400.00 -

The 2019 Syrah Sonoma Hillsides is once again the star of this range from Pax Mahle. Rich and exotic, with notable depth, the Hillsides is quite a bit brighter than the other Syrahs in the portfolio. Red cherry, plum, pomegranate, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco abound. The whole clusters are present, but nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. As always, the Hillsides is a blend taken from several sites, done with 100% whole clusters and aged in concrete. Every time I taste the Hillsides, I think the same thing: why doesn't Pax Mahle treat all his Syrahs this way?HK$3,900.00 -
Vinous (98)
The 2021 Syrah Sonoma Hillsides is towering and statuesque in bearing from the very first taste. I don’t think I have ever tasted a Sonoma Hillsides with this much finesse, this much purity. A wine of vertical energy, the Sonoma Hillsides possesses tremendous depth from start to finish. In many vintages the Hillsides leans towards a darker expression of Syrah. The 2021, on the other hand, is marked by more of a red/purplish fruit profile, with bright floral and citrus overtones that confer freshness. Once again, Pax Mahle made one of the truly epic wines of the year. His Sonoma Hillsides has been one of the very finest wines in Northern California for a number of years now.HK$5,450.00 -
Wine Enthusiast (96)
Savory notes of bramble, smoke and leather juxtapose forward plum, cherry and strawberry in this full-bodied wine. It's a penetrating, mouthfilling sip that lingers on the palate, finishing on soft, furry tannins. Approachable already, this concentrated wine should improve through 2025 and hold further.HK$6,300.00 -
