Really pale and youthful in the glass with plenty of steely green hues. Slatey and minerally on the nose, there's also citrus blossom, lime zest and a touch of melon skin. Flavours are focused and precise, there's lashings of lemony, limey goodness, a lick of wet stone along with a bright and crunchy acidity that gives great drive and length to the wine. Cask sample. Black core, the colour of elderberry juice at the rim. Rocky, dusty black and red fruit on the nose. More lifted than the single-vineyard components but some herbs too. The fruit has a wilder character than the single-vineyard Tannat and is even more rocky and dusty – ie more terroir than variety. Super-fine texture, a little more red fruit and some dried fruit but still with tension/freshness. For an intense wine, there is surprising delicacy in the aroma and the tannins - more bone than meat (I mean that positively). A touch earthy. Again I feel that can smell the Atlantic and the rocks and the wind. Dry but still juicy. Paper-fine texture. Beautiful if embryonic now but will surely develop well in bottle.HK$3,365.00 -

Let's put it this way. This is the closest I have come to awarding a wine 100 points...Stellar wine from a stellar vintage. The remarkable this is that this is a wine 100 percent barrel fermented in new French oak barriques with regular lees stirring for 11 months - and it certainly doesn't taste excessive, or even slightly oak. It has such high-fidelity purity with complex seductive aromatics of vanilla bean and light oatmeal with a cutting minerality and spicy lift. But the palate, oh the palate. This is where things start to explode. Power, poise and persistence with a dry savouriness balancing the intense ripe fruit. The NV Vin de France Arcane Le Fou is another unique wine from this incredible winemaker. This cuvée focuses on different clones of Grenache as well as just about every permitted variety out there (although it’s 85% Grenache). It has a big, sweet nose of blueberries, black cherries, lavender, and peppery incense as well as a full-bodied, layered, powerful yet seamless style on the palate. With no hard edges, silky tannins, and a big finish, it’s a singular wine (it’s mostly from vines in Châteauneuf Du Pape) to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years.HK$1,800.00
