The 2016 Acte 8 is fabulous. The 2016 literally soars out of the glass with a stunning range of aromatics. Rose petal, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and sweet raspberry are all vivid. Once again, I am totally blown away by the purity of the flavors. Even with all of its intensity, the 2016 retains terrific freshness and energy. Most of the clonal material now is from Lafleur. Decanter (94)
A gorgeous dark nose with some perfumed black cherries, it smells faintly sweet and softly floral - so welcoming. A similar soft, sweetness follows on the palate straight away with such perfumed edges that are completely captivating. Succulent with clarity and soft chalky tannins plumping up the blackcurrant, Morello cherry and raspberry fruit. There's also a very specific iron filing, iodine salinity that lingers giving such texture and nuance to the overall frame. The finish is fresh and direct with a cooling sensation that lingers. Sophisticated and refined, but above all so joyous to drink. A top buy. From the same winemaking team and philosophy as Château Lafleur in Pomerol.HK$1,230.00 -

Jeb Dunnuck (96-99)
I loved the 2017 Côte Rôtie Château D'Ampuis. It’s a ripe, expressive barrel sample overflowing with notions of black raspberries, cassis, vanilla bean, and incense. Medium to full-bodied, rounded, and silky, it has lots of ripe tannins as well as stunning balance. It’s in the same ballpark as the 2016 yet shows the warmer, sunny nature of the vintage.HK$6,000.00 -

Inky violet color. Aromas of pungent violet, rose and magnolia, with deep chocolate, dark plum and roasted coffee elements. The most brooding and seemingly concentrated of this trio right now. With time in the glass, this unfolds slowly to reveal an exotic flavor profile of bitter cherry, blood orange, apricot pit, rose pastille and Indian spices. Very backward today but obviously highly concentrated and only beginning to reveal itself. I loved the 2017 Côte Rôtie La Turque, which shows the sunny warmth of the vintage while staying balanced, pure, and light on its feet. Awesome notes of ripe black fruits, chocolate, spice box, and incense emerge from the glass and it’s full-bodied, has building tannins, a weightless texture, and a monster of a finish.
