James Suckling (97)
It's time to taste the volcano! Although this is still very young, it has an amazingly refined nose that reminds us of top-class red Burgundy. Quite full-bodied, but super-elegant and transparent, with very fine tannins that build to a stunning crescendo at the mineral finish. Patience will be rewarded! Drinkable now, but best from 2023.HK$2,500.00 -
Vinous (92-95)
The 2015 Corton La Vigne au Saint Grand Cru exudes freshness and vivacity. Hints of orange peel, cranberry and white pepper from the whole clusters (45%) add a striking aromatic upper register. This is another wine with a super-appealing push and pull between ripeness of fruit and salivating acidity. Quite frankly, in a blind tasting, this would be very hard to peg as wine from a warm vintage. - Antonio GalloniHK$12,200.00 -
Burghound (94)
The ripe and ultra-fresh aromas are from the darker side of the fruit spectrum while including plenty of spice, warm earth, menthol and plenty of sauvage character. There is both fine detail and a beguiling texture to the equally broad-shouldered and even more mineral-inflected flavors that possess even better complexity on the balanced and hugely long finish. Unusually, this appears to be just a bit less structured than the Bressandes and should also be approachable on the younger side if that's your preference.HK$5,200.00 -
Decanter (96)
You're almost always assured of a great Corton from this 2.7ha monopole, which has performed especially well in the warmer conditions of 2017, retaining acidity and freshness. Fine tannins, chalky minerality and beautifully judged oak all support savoury raspberry, red cherry and pomegranate fruit flavours.HK$6,480.00 -
Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (94)
Pale but vibrant ruby in colour, from 6.5ha of 45 year old vines on the northern slopes of Etna at 750m. So fragrant it’s crazy, soft raspberry and cranberry fruits, this is far more intense on the nose than you expect from the colour. Very approachable, easy to enjoy, fragrant with rolling waves of summer fruits, orange peel and earthy dried herbs. No need to wait to drink this, although you feel gentle tannins guiding your way through the palate. Easy to recommend this wine from Davide Rosse (originally from Piedmont, and you can see something of the delicacy of nebbiolo here, the whisper of a variety that specialises in gentle persuasion). Aged in an array of differently sized French oak barrels and casks. Got to be the best value wine of the September Releases.HK$1,145.00 -
Wine Spectator (92)
Rich and rangy, with cherry and spice flavors filling the broad profile. Ample acidity and tannins shore this up, leading to a slightly compact finish. Fine length.HK$7,632.00 -
Discover the purest expression of wine in the Philippe Pacalet Corton Grand Cru Bressandes 2020. Produced in Beaune, France by revered natural wine producer Philippe Pacalet, this highly rated Grand Cru is a classic Burgundian delight. Pacalet provides his own unique interpretation of the terroir; utilising traditional viticulture techniques, the grapes are grown without pesticides and handpicked to ensure the ultimate quality. Unlike many producers, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation from the vineyard's natural yeasts, and minimal sulphur is used in the process, securing the authentic character and fruit-forward profile of the wine. The 2020 vintage promises great complexity with enticing red fruit notes, firm tannins and a bright acidity that lingers through a long and creamy finish. With its remarkable intricacy and sophistication, the Philippe Pacalet Corton Grand Cru Bressandes 2020 will enhance any experienced cellar. Masterfully crafted and matured, this wine truly manifests the pinnacle of Pacalet's winemaking expertise.
