Wine Advocate (91)
Displaying a similar color as well as personality and depth, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Ashmead exhibits a more scorched/roasted character to its nose, sweeter, more pliable and open-knit flavors, and nearly as much aging potential as the cooler vintage conditions produced in 2002. A beautiful, full-throttle, gutsy Cabernet Sauvignon, it can be drunk now and over the next 10-12 years.HK$2,400.00 -
Wine Spectator (97)
Big and powerful, brimming with tarry, spicy black cherry, dark plum, blackberry and chocolate flavors. Rich and gooey like a warm flourless chocolate cake, yet it finds a plush balance that keeps it from veering off into heaviness. This has grace, harmony and refinement, without losing an ounce of power. Drink now through 2025. 600 cases imported. -HSHK$3,000.00 -
Halliday Wine Companion (95)
Matured in French and American hogsheads (18% new) for 18 months. The bouquet does indeed bellow from the glass like that a euphonium. It has a swag of red, black and purple fruits all in tune, something very different for drinking now.HK$2,680.00 -
Vinous (96)
From the Coal and Derwent Valleys (Tas) and the Adelaide Hills; Handpicked and pressed to French barriques (62% new, 38% 1yo) for 8 months. The wine is so precise and tightly wound it is hard to imagine it went through 100% mlf, but at the same time, the decision to limit the amount of new oak falls neatly into place. It is developing at such a leisurely pace it is hard to visualise an end point. Gun flint, wet stone, green apple and grapefruit are among the contributors to the seamless flavour stream.HK$5,950.00 -
James Suckling (98)
A much-anticipated vintage for Yattarna and it does not disappoint, showing very impressive depth and sheer fruit power. It has devoured the oak, there's a deep citrusy core to the palate that really hinges on yellow grapefruit. It teases with subtle bitterness in a way that a great chef fine tunes a great dish, sapid, dense and very very assertive. Drink now.HK$6,015.00 -
Halliday Wine Companion (92)
Old-school Coonawarra wrapped within a sheath of contemporary tannin management. Smoother, perhaps, but the region's green olive scented tannins, sinewy and edgy, are strongly genetic. Otherwise, currant, bay leaf and an herbaceous undercarriage of mint, clove and bouquet garni push across a persistent linger.HK$2,000.00 -
Andrew Caillard MW (100)
Deep crimson. Lovely pure blackcurrant elderberry herb garden aromas with hints of espresso/ roasted chestnut notes. Beautiful concentrated wine with blackcurrant elderberry chinotto herb flavours, fine-grained and plentiful yet vigorous tannins, superb mid palate richness and integrated roasted chestnut/ cedar oak notes. Finishes chalky firm with a long inky/ graphite plume. Made for the long haul. Powerfully expressive yet unforced wine with superb vinosity, richness, density and volume. Superb. The fruit derives from the V&A (Victoria & Albert) and Nursery Vineyards, both located on classic terra rossa soils. From a dry, mild to warm growing season. Wait a few years to let it unfold, 2025-2050.HK$4,580.00 -
Bob Campbell MW (97)
Marries elegance with depth and power, elegance controlling the union. Whereas oak is often very obvious in young Michael releases, here it is just a veneer for the supple plum, black cherry and blackberry fruits, the tannins likewise perfectly pitched. Coonawarra didn't miss out on the great '12 vintage.HK$4,300.00
