Wine Advocate (98+)
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Shiraz The Armagh offers a gorgeous perfume of baking spices, violets, Sichuan pepper and fragrant earth. More earthy and savory in the mouth than on the nose, the palate is superbly structured and taut—built for the long-haul—with a long, complex finish. Still very youthfully, forget this wine for 3-5 more years and consider drinking it over the next 20+.HK$9,770.00 -

The 2005 Shiraz “Attunga 1865” is sourced from ungrafted vines planted in the Clare Valley in 1865. It spent 25 months in 100% new French oak hogsheads and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Opaque purple/black, it reveals an ethereal bouquet of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, espresso, mocha, black cherry, and blackberry. This leads to a powerful, intense, yet elegant wine with a very long, seamless finish. This beautifully balanced effort will excite tasters over the next 25 years. Kilikanoon’s winemaker is the talented Kevin Mitchell. The house specialty is Shiraz but Mitchell does equally well with Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache.HK$5,000.00 -

From the Contrada Bombolieri, the 2016 Frappato Vino di Contrada BB appears to be the darkest and most saturated in this set of three Frappato-based wines. This vineyard is set high on a promontory with white limestone soils. The expression is open and accessible like the others, yet this wine adds an additional layer of earth or potting soil on top of the bright red and black fruit you get on the nose. This one also appears to have extra layering and textural richness. All that fruit is capped by fresh acidity that plays a big role, making this wine a nice pairing partner to creamy fettuccine. An exclusive 2,400 bottles were produced.HK$3,300.00 -
Luca Maroni (99)
When it comes to subtlety and elegant expression, this is the absolute, considered champion. This wine does not present itself as black, but as a purplish bordeaux, which immediately and visibly conveys the balance, smoothness and the silkiness of its fleshy expression. A velvet silk glove that feels like a petal or lace to the touch. A sheath, a veil of sumptuous glycerin - the essence of the peak maturity of the fruit it is made from. A perfect rotundity of palate, somewhere between acidity, softness and tannin, an oenological sheen from the technique of its formation, shedding spiced light on its native splendour.HK$1,580.00 -
Vinous (96)
Opaque ruby. Intensely perfumed cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by suggestions of black pepper, incense, licorice and Moroccan spices. Subtly chewy, broad and alluringly sweet, offering densely packed blackberry, bitter cherry, fruitcake, lavender and cola flavors and a spicy nuance that builds with aeration. The extremely long, floral- and spice-driven finish shows outstanding clarity and suave, harmonious tannins and closing grip.HK$1,180.00
