  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Chambertin-Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru 2020 (1x150cl)

    Tim Atkin MW (96)

Fr d ric Barnier is content that Bouchard performs the harvest for this purchased fruit from Pierre Damoy, and he harvests these toward the end of the vintage. Bouchard has the same 80 ares every year. The nose has an inviting rose petal lift while the palate fills with sturdy black fruits. The mouthfeel has a lightly firm, custard-like density surrounded by smooth and lightly chewy tannins. High-toned oak delicately scents the long finish. 2025-40

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (94-96)

The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has an impressive bouquet of mineral-rich citrus fruit, smoke, honeysuckle and jasmine aromas, complex and alluring. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, with plenty of tangerine and grapefruit notes, but it is the mineralité and tension that really elevate this Grand Cru. For once, this might outperform the La Cabotte.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru La Cabotte 2013 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

(this was 12.8% potential alcohol chaptalized to 13.5%): Bright lemon-yellow. Deep, smoky, soil-driven aromas of pineapple, nectarine, peach, iodine and clove. Tactile and dusty on the palate, with strong oak spice and iodine minerality currently dominating the wine's underlying orchard fruit flavors. More musclebound and Montrachet-like than the regular Chevalier-Montrachet in spite of possessing lower acidity (3.9 grams per liter). Finishes very long and firm, with enticing notes of orange, gingerbread and honey. Real creamy density here, but this needs more elevage.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru La Cabotte 2016 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (95+)

Knockout pure-but-reticent nose melds deep yellow fruits, oak char, baking spices and minerals (this always needs a lot more time than the Chevalier-Montrachet here, notes Frédéric Weber). Wonderfully silky and rich but light on its feet; a serious mouthful of lemon zest, crushed stone and spices with outstanding focus and supporting salty minerality. Really shines today for its inner-mouth tension and explosive palate-dusting finish. Bouchard's Montrachet production was off by more than 50% in 2016 (to around 23 hectoliters per hectare), but the Cabotte was less affected by frost, producing three barrels, vs. four in 2017. This wonderfully plush, fine-grained, concentrated wine is built for a long and eventful evolution in bottle.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Le Corton Grand Cru 2016 (1x150cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17+)

Confected, candied red fruit on the nose, with rich spices too. Tight tannin, long fruit concentration on the finish. Should unfurl in due course and develop secondary flavours from that intense core fruit.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Le Corton Grand Cru 2018 (1x150cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17.5)

Naughty heavy bottle. Focused, dusty and earthy cranberry fruit. Precise and chiselled palate, with lovely fluidity and a long, floral finish. Likely to be ready earlier, but to give lots of pleasure. Elegant burgundy.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrieres 2016 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is excellent, unfurling in the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp Anjou pear, beeswax, wet stones and dried white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and incisive, with an elegantly satiny attack, a tangy line of acidity and a tight-knit, concentrated core, concluding with a beautifully delineated finish. This is a racy, acid-driven Genevrières that will evolve beautifully in the cellar. Bouchard's holdings in Genevrières amount to some 15% of the appellation, so it's reassuring to see that they are in good hands.

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

Tasted blind, Bouchard's 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru put in a fabulous showing, making my tasting note from earlier this year seem decidedly conservative. Wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of Meyer lemon, mandarin, orange blossom, dried white flowers and toasted hazelnut, the wine is full-bodied, ample and textural, with an incredibly elegant, pure and precise profile. Above all, it's beautifully balanced, with the ineffable sense of completeness that distinguishes Montrachet at its best.

  • Brane-Cantenac 2020 (1x150cl)

    James Suckling (96-97)

Extremely floral and beautiful with blackberry and blackcurrant aromas that follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and loads of dark fruit, sweet tobacco, bark and earth. Chewy, fine tannins. Perhaps the best of the trilogy years.

  • Brovia Barolo 150 Anniversario Riserva 2005 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (96)

The 2005 Barolo Riserva 150 Anniversario Rocche-Villero is one of the standouts of a very impressive lineup of Barolos. It races out of the blocks with a layered nose of enticing black fruit laced with melted tar, wilted rose petals and a subtle brine note. Medium-bodied on the palate, delivering firm tannins and counterbalanced by a perfect line of acidity, the dark berry fruit laced with dark chocolate and a hint of fennel. Reassuringly long on the finish, this is one delicious and captivating Barolo. Tasted at the Vinous off-line dinner at La Trompette.

  • Brovia Barolo Rocche 2015 (1x150cl)
  • Bruno Clair Chambertin-Clos-De-Beze Grand Cru 2006 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (95)

Smoky black tea, rose petals, dark berries, and licorice waft seductively (and site-typically) from the glass of Clair 2006 Chambertin Clos De Beze. Seamlessly-rich and refined in tannins, this offers a gorgeous layering of flavors anchored in clean meatiness and suggestions of stoniness and crystalline minerality that carry no sense of austerity. While missing the remarkable dynamic of the Clos St.-Jacques, in its own way this supremely elegant, intriguingly-nuanced, and memorably persistent Pinot is a model for the vintage and of its great site's potential year in, year out. Plan to give it 3-4 years of rest before savoring it for the 6-8 that follow.

  • Bruno Clair Chambertin-Clos-De-Beze Grand Cru 2020 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (96-98)

The 2020 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a fabulous, pixelated bouquet with ebullient, brambly red fruit interlaced with minerals. Real pedigree here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy, saline entry. Great depth, cohesive with just the right amount of salinity. This lingers long in the mouth. Irresistible, surfeit with class.

  • Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili 2017 (1x150cl)

    James Suckling (97)

There’s impeccable transparency and freshness to this Barbaresco on the nose, which introduces bright rose petals, lifted orange peel, crushed stones and sour cherries. The stoney tannins trace intricate detail on the medium-to full-bodied palate, highlighting the racy acidity, brambly undertones and a beautiful array of wild berries. Yes, there’s power and depth of flavor, but this is all about grace and beauty. Drink from 2024.

  • Bruyere & Houillon Arbois Les Tourillons 2016 (1x150cl)

Expertly crafted, the Bruyere & Houillon Arbois Les Tourillons 2016 is a benchmark in organic viticulture. Hailing from the renowned Jura wine region in eastern France, each bottle exhibits a fusion of tradition and innovation mastered by its creators, Emmanuel Houillon and Anne-Claire Houillon. Following Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic approach, every vine is meticulously cultivated to produce fruits preserving their inherent character, body, and flavour.

This wine showcases the intensity of Savagnin and Chardonnay grape varieties, matured in old oak for 24 months, enhancing its complexity and mineral edge. Evident in every sip is its elegant bouquet with notes of crisp citrus and jasmine, complemented by a harmonious balance of acidity and ripeness. Truly, the Bruyere & Houillon Arbois Les Tourillons 2016 transcends beyond being a mere beverage - it's a testament to the land from which it was born and the passion of those who crafted it. A sublime addition to any connoisseur's collection.

  • Burlotto Barolo Acclivi 2019 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2019 Barolo Acclivi is a very serious wine in this range. It possesses a gorgeous core and tons of supporting structure. I would give the 2019 at least a few years in bottle, as it really needs that time to release its aromatics. I have seen this wine blossom with cellaring, and imagine that will be the case here as well. Today, the Acclivi is quite closed, but time in the glass releases gorgeous red fruit and blood orange character. Although the Acclivi is not as coveted as the Cannubi or Monvigliero, it is an important wine in its own right, as several recent bottles of the 2006 showed. Think of it like Rousseau's Clos Saint-Jacques relative to the Chambertin and Beze.

  • Burlotto Barolo Cannubi 2018 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is pliant, layered and super-expressive. Even so, readers will have to be patient, as the 2018 needs time to be at its very best. Dark cherry fruit, plum, lavender and spice add gravitas. Like all of these wines, the 2018 is understated and lighter in body than most years, but all the elements are nicely balanced.

  • Burlotto Barolo Cannubi 2019 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (98)

The 2019 Barolo Cannubi is a powerhouse. A Barolo of real substance and depth, the 2019 packs a huge punch. It offers a great foil to the finesse of Monvigliero. Black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and leather infuse the 2019 with tons of complexity. Here, too, the tannins are wonderfully integrated into the wine's fabric, but make no mistake about it, the 2019 has a ton of tannin!

  • Calon Segur 2000 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London. The 2000 Calon Segur is one of those wines that reminds you how great the millennial vintage could be. Now at fifteen years old, it has a brilliant, vivacious red berry nose infused with ash and cigar box aromas. The detail here is a beguiling and it just sings Saint Estèphe. The palate is medium-bodied with dense, firm tannin that provide a rigid backbone, but it is swathed in copious tobacco-drenched black fruit and a superb line of acidity. It finishes with a twist of bitter cherry on the finish that completes what is a deeply impressive Calon-Ségur; it might just outclass the 2005. Tasted March 2015.

  • Calon Segur 2018 (1x150cl)

    Decanter (99)

A distinctive bouquet with notes of iodine, flowers, fresh fruit and graphite, but its floral character takes on a dominant role with airing. Gorgeously juicy mouthfeel brimming with energy lengthening a finish that consolidates its profound substance but also reveals surprising subtlety and delicacy. This 2018 is perhaps an atypical Calon Ségur in the context of recent vintages, but it joins the ranks of the great ones and should gain in elegance over time. Cellaring may be required for up to twenty-five years.

  • Calon Segur 2019 (1x150cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (98)

The 2019 Calon Ségur is a wine of soaring vertical intensity and pure power. That's the good news. The not so good news is that it won't be ready to drink any time soon. Exotic spice, pencil shavings, crème de cassis, mocha and licorice are some of the nuances that develop in the glass, but those descriptions can't even begin to capture the sheer beauty of what is in the glass. I loved the 2019 from barrel and I love it just as much from bottle.

  • Calon Segur 2020 (1x150cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (99)

The 2020 Château Calon Ségur is pure gold and another masterpiece from this estate. Harvested all in September and pulled from their 48 hectares of vines, the blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that spent 20 months all in new French oak, and it hit 13.2% natural alcohol. My notes started and ended with "wow," and this riveting Saint-Estèphe offers a heavenly bouquet of red and black currants, truffly earth, iron, espresso, and tobacco leaf. With incredible purity of fruit, full-bodied richness, and ultra-fine tannins, it's a deep, pure, layered 2020 that deserves at least 7-8 years of bottle age and will cruise for 40-50 years in cold cellars. Hats off to the team at Calon Ségur.

  • Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2017 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is wildly perfumed, dusty and exotic, with balsam herbs, savory spices, red currants and plums coming across as so pretty yet rich and potent. A silky display of sour wild berries contrasted by candied citrus wows the senses as the 2017 plays a zesty sweet-and-sour act upon the palate. It’s long, youthfully chewy, yet still remarkably fresh, with rosy florals and tart, tart cherries giving way to chiseled tannins through the finale. This is a beautiful rendition of the 2017 vintage, one that takes the dry warmth of the year and expresses it with tremendous energy and verve. What's more, I revisited this bottle over the course of 36 hours and it only got better with time.

  • Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2018 (1x150cl)

    Kerin O'Keefe (96)

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino from Canalicchio di Sopra boasts great aromatics of wild rose, new leather forest floor and perfumed berry that align with whiffs of spice. It’s savory and loaded with finesse, featuring juicy red cherry, botanical herb, white pepper and iron mineral notes framed in taut, lithe tannins. Blending grapes from their Montosoli and Canalicchio vineyards created an ideal, natural balance. Drink through 2038.
