  • Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2019 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has the most expressive aromatics of the three wines that I tasted from the appellation at Domaine Mugneret. Only half the number of barrels were produced this year due to very small bunch weight. This has vibrant red berry fruit, wild strawberry, shaved black truffle and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite taut and more linear than the Les Vignes Rondes, and certainly with greater tension toward the saline finish. Excellent.

  • Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru suffered quite a lot during the summer according to Christine because of the dryness. Nevertheless, it has an exquisite bouquet with beautifully defined, minerally red fruit that seems to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, an almost citric bead of acidity with a lively and sustained finish. Wonderful.

  • Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2021 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru was cropped at 17hL/ha with around 50% new oak. It has an exquisite, floral bouquet with dark berry fruit, peony and wilted roses, gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins, an almost citric line of acidity with a tensile, linear yet compelling finish. Wonderful.

  • Georges Noellat Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras 2015 (3x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92-94)

Matured in 60% new oak, the 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras has an opulent bouquet with blueberry and black cherry fruit soaring from the glass, the oak neatly integrated, although I detected just a little warmth here that detracted from the delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin. There is clearly a solid backbone to this Nuits Saint Georges that lends it a Morey-Saint-Denis-like personality. There is ample blackberry and raspberry notes infused with white pepper and sage, fanning out in confident fashion towards the detailed finish. This is a sturdy and forthright 2015 that will drink beautifully over 15-20 years. This wine is superb.

  • Georges Noellat Nuits-Saint-Georges 2015 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (89-91)

Bright, dark red. Attractive lift to the raspberry and floral aromas; this could hardly be more different from the village Gevrey. At once dense and creamy-sweet, conveying very good energy to the dark berry and floral flavors. Finishes bright and long, with substantial ripe, dusty tannins. Cheurlin produced just 29 hectoliters per hectares here, owing to the estate's high percentage of old vines.

  • Guyon Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Argillats Blanc 2021 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-92)

Fullish yellow, some apples but riper here than the Coteaux Bourguignons. A little touch of oak, 25% new. This really comes into its own on the palate, still showing some oak and a bit of bacon fat but the ripe apples now give it plenty of flesh. Not mainstream but a thoroughly interesting wine. Picked a week before the reds. Drink from 2024-2027.

  • Guyon Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Argillats Blanc 2022 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-91)

Pinot blanc, filtered but not fined, and ready to bottle. 30% new wood and 13.46% alcohol. This is the first time this wine has hit the yield since he purchased the vineyard in 2006. The palate fills out gorgeously, while there is a fine chiselled fresh finish. Both halves of the equation work. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted: November 2023.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet, iris and incense notes dominating at the moment, slightly at the expense of terroir expression. • Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets St-Georges 2020 (12x75cl)

    Tim Atkin MW (94)

Antoine Gouges says this is a cooler terroir, like its neighbor Ch nes Quarteaux, because it is flatter and the Combe des Vallerots runs down one edge. Still, the warmth of the vintage comes through in the fruit with succulent blackberries and cassis. The tannins are, again, more old school with some stern grip. The focused, long finish shows a hint of oak toast with crushed slate. Just give this some time in bottle. 2025-40

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very pure and focused bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry, subtle floral elements and a touch of sea spray. This is complex in the context of the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins, a hint of dark chocolate combining neatly with the mulberry fruit on the finish. Nice tingle on the tongue after the wine has departed. Sublime.

  • Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets St-Georges 2022 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru had been racked the previous week, but it was essentially the final wine I tasted as it was just about to be bottled. It has a stricter and more backward bouquet than the Chênes Carteaux: blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, the 20% new oak neatly folded in. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, leaning more towards black fruit laced with tar and tobacco. Quite Morey-like towards the finish with impressive persistence. Give this two or three years in bottle to shave the edges. Very fine.

  • Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2019 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (90-92)

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet of brambly red berry fruit, plus a dusting of dark chocolate and damp undergrowth; gentle and attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Fleshy toward the finish, delivering tart red fruit, this will be one of Gouge’s more approachable cuvées and should drink well for 12–15 years.

  • Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2020 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)

Racked to tank. Chaignots enjoyed a slightly better yield at just above 25 hl/ha, because there was more juice in the grapes. Full rich purple. The nose has similar basic characteristics of ripe fruit but is not too concentrated. Very good depth thereafter, and as with all the wines here the fruit is that little bit fresher on the palate than the nose. Good acidity at the finish. 14.2% alcohol. Tasted: November 2021

Medium deep crimson colour. The nose shows an assured ripeness of red berry fruit, supported by a little new oak (20%). Very pretty and quite floral on the nose, yet much more solid red fruit weight on the palate, with a little vanilla from the oak playing at the edges. Good length. Drink from 2026-2031.

  • Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2013 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers felt a little reduced on the nose -- though that is common with infant Gouges. At the moment it compromises the wine's definition, which is a pity as there is attractive red cherry and redcurrant fruit waiting to surface. That will be addressed with bottle age. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, some chewiness that will dissipate with time and good depth. It feels a little chunky and uncouth towards the finish although it does improve and gain more cohesion in the glass. Time should meliorate this wine, so afford it 3-4 years in bottle. Tasted September 2016.

    Vinous (91-93)

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru did not suffer too much hail according to Antoine Gouges, at most 5%. This is very ripe and slightly gourmand on the nose, light savory notes emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, nicely controlled and then just tightening up towards the finish that shows just a bit of VA. Quite dense of a Pruliers, give this some time in the cellar.
