This smells like a bouquet of flowers with blueberries and currants and spices. Full body, yet agile and refined. So fine and pretty. It's balanced and in harmony. Savory. A smoky, decadent and meat undertone.

Indulge in the distinct character of the Casa Raia Brunello Montalcino 2010, a product of expert organic viticulture in Italy's esteemed Tuscany region. Crafted by artisan winemakers from hand-harvested Sangiovese Grosso grapes, this fine wine features a sublime depth of colour and robust, elegant structure. Its nuanced nose and palate harmonise notes of ripe red fruit, sun-baked earth, and subtle undertones of spice, reflecting its 30-month maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels prior to bottling. The impeccable balance of tannins and acidity culminates in a profound and lingering finish. This vintage accurately represents the unique terroir from which it hails, yielding a vintage that combines power with finesse. Produced on a biodynamic, nine-hectare estate nestled in the southern slopes of Montalcino, the Casa Raia Brunello Montalcino 2010 indeed stands as a testament to the traditional Tuscan winemaking prowess.

The outstanding 2010 Brunello di Montalcino gives you everything you want to see in a great wine, a great Tuscan wine. This monumental expression of Sangiovese delivers top-notch intensity with seamless integration of aromas. They span from dark fruit and Morello cherry to chocolate, spice, licorice, balsam herb and rosemary sprig. The energy and vitality of the vintage is locked perfectly within. This Brunello exhibits especially soft, silky tannins with long persistence and momentum. There is nothing out of place and the price tag is certainly not exaggerated for this level of excellence.

Here is a stunning wine that exudes excellence in primary material and winemaking craft. Man and nature come together with perfect precision and harmony in the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto. The balance is exquisite. Bold cherry and blackberry notes are followed by crushed mineral, licorice, smoke and lightly fragrant cedar. The wine also shows convincing power and volume. It spreads evenly over the palate, and its flavor intensity can be counted over many long minutes. Cerretalto is beautifully concentrated and rich, but it is never too heavy or dense. This is an Italian icon that is still drinking young now, but it has an exciting world of possibility ahead. I think we'd all like to come along for the ride.

This is a gorgeous wine. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is just as impressive now as when I first tasted it three years ago. The only edit I would make to my original 100-point review is an extension to the drinking window. The bouquet is absolutely seamless, yet it shows pencil-point precision with dark fruit that flows into spice, tobacco and crushed mineral. The wine's aromatic intensity is forthright and compelling, as is the polished and fine nature of the mouthfeel. This is a cellar keeper.

Rampolla's 2010 d'Alceo is utterly spellbinding today. Even better than it was last year, the 2010 impresses for its exceptional balance and pure finesse. Everything is simply in the right place. Silky, layered and unbelievably expressive, the 2010 d'Alceo is a thrill from the very first taste. Over the decades the Di Napoli family has made so many breathtaking wines, but the 2010 d'Alceo is something more than breathtaking, and that something more is hard to express with words. Readers lucky enough to taste the 2010, however, will know it right away. What a magnificent wine this is.

The 2010 Lupicaia is another fruit-forward vintage, showing great intensity and depth. What makes this wine unique is its streamlined and focused nature. Overall, it is a ripe, generous and very intense wine with rich flavors and concentration. The integrated tannins are dusty and fine. It would pair well with rich and gamey meats like liver, innards or venison.

The 2010 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino is a blend of grapes from Adrianna and Nicasia, from the deepest, coolest soils in those vineyards, in Gualtallary and Altamira. They were looking for something that represents the essence of Malbec. The first vintage for this wine was 2004, when they finally found the blend and character they were looking for. The name they wanted to use for the wine was Malbec Puro, but they didn’t want any confusion with cigars, so they called it Malbec Argentino instead! It is very aromatic with floral notes, mainly violets and blue fruit, and is nicely defined. It is opulent with sweet tannins but with the hallmark of the freshness found in all the wines from those two vineyards, precise and long. Drink 2015-2020.

Here is a beautiful wine for the ages. The 2010 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe captures the timeless beauty and balance of the vintage with exuberance and authenticity. The wine makes a delicate but lasting impression on the senses with lingering tones of wild berry, licorice and white truffle. All the aromas are pegged to a concrete sense of place. There is a savory and warm side to the bouquet that builds in momentum. This is a very pretty wine that will embrace many long years of cellar aging.

Good bright red-ruby. Good lift to the aroma of black fruits and violet. Dense, juicy and savory, with a distinctly dark cast to the nicely concentrated flavors of black fruits and violet. Solidly structured, chewy wine with a long, saline aftertaste. Tremblay noted that Vosne-Romanee had considerably less rain in early September than did Chambolle.

Distinguished by its profound opulence, the Cerbaia Toscana Luigi-Maria 2010 exhibits the impeccable finesse of Italy's storied wine culture. Crafted in the panoramic hills of Tuscany, this vintage exposes a captivating complexity, deftly interweaving earthy, tobacco notes with ripe cherry fragrance. The viticultural passion of the Cerbaia estate is undoubtedly mirrored in this elegance, as their commitment to nurturing a limited vineyard of 22 years old vines leads to its superior richness. Deftly aged for 18 months primarily in French oak, this 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot blend whispers the story of winemaker expertise. The Cerbaia Toscana Luigi-Maria 2010 has an astounding potential for cellaring, developing into a wine that continues to enchant the palate years after its promising inception. Bold, refined and genuinely Italian, this vintage is an emblem of superior craftsmanship, capturing the essence of wine connoisseurs' thirst for exceptional experiences.

The 2010 Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino brings the evening to a rapturous finish. The most anticipated wine of the night, the Cerbaiona shows why it belongs in the pantheon of the most epic wines ever made in Montalcino. A Brunello with no beginning and no end, the 2010 Cerbaiona just is. Every aroma, every shade of nuance, every texture is just…perfect. The 2010 has been nothing less than thrilling every time I have tasted it, going back to the days when it was a young wine in cask. It is every bit as magnificent on this night.

The 2010 Barolo Prapò is one of the most beautiful young Barolos I have tasted from Ceretto in a long time. Deep, layered and beautifully expressive, yet also mysterious, the 2010 exudes class and that warm, Serralunga resonance that is unique to the Barolos of the village. Sage, roasted coffee beans, licorice and new leather are some of the notes that emerge over time, all framed by firm, muscular tannins that suggest a long life lies ahead. Today, the 2010 Prapò is majestic. It also has plenty of room to grow from here.

The 2010 Ermitage l’Ermite (454 cases produced) is another perfect wine. Completely different than Le Pavillon, l’Ermite is always slightly more austere. It comes from a 7.5-acre parcel of sandy, granitic soils at the top of the Hill of Hermitage that produces both red and white compelling Hermitages, somewhat unusual in this tiny appellation. The black/purple-colored 2010 l’Ermite exhibits a tight, more mineral-dominated set of aromatics offering up hints of blue and black fruits, charcoal, steak tartare and an unmistakable floral note. This full-bodied, more austere and tannic effort reveals extraordinary weight, palate penetration and purity. It represents the concentrated essence of a specific site as well as the Syrah grape planted in this magical appellation. Forgot it for 10-15 years, possibly two decades, and drink it over the following 50-75 years.

With a production of 432 cases, the 2010 St.-Joseph Les Granits Blanc may be the finest white wine made in the appellation. Aromas of tangerine oil, orange marmalade, powdered stones and subtle gun flint as well as smoke jump from the glass of this full-bodied effort. This elegant, rich, full, stunning wine is a tour de force as well as a big-time reference point for what can be achieved from the granite hillsides of St.-Joseph.
