Very ripe, almost exotic aromas of black cherry, dark plum, licorice and menthol, with lower-pitched notes of damp earth and clove; less perfumed than the 2016 version. Compellingly rich and broad but showing a bit more alcoholic weight and warmth than the '16 (the alcohol here is 13.6%, vs. 13.2% for the earlier vintage) and already shutting down in the bottle. Finishes with broad, dusty, building tannins and strong medicinal reserve. |

It offers a very floral, seductive bouquet with pressed violet petals liberally scattered over the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, and just a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on the finish. Excellent. Wine Advocate (92)The 2015 Meursault Village is showing very well, unfurling in the glass with notes of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Anjou pear, white flowers, honeycomb and hazelnut cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, with beautiful balance, succulent underlying acids and an elegant framing of dry extract that lends a mouthwatering quality to the long, penetrating finish. Without either the strong cooperage or reductive signatures of yesteryear's Coche-Dury, it exemplifies the new stylistic direction taken by Raphaël Coche, and it's a terrific success, surpassing both the 2014 and 2013 renditions. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2015 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru, which is a blend of 60% Breterins and 40% Les Bas des Duresses close to Monthélie, had received a bit of SO2 a week before my visit and was due to be transferred into tank for around two months. It contains 10% whole bunch fruit this year and sees 20% new oak. It has a sensual bouquet with black cherries, raspberry and confit fruit all with fine delineation. The tannins here are finer than the village cru as you would expect, the acidity nicely judged (3.4 pH) with a poised and tensile finish that delivers a welcome salinity on the finish. This comes highly recommended and is certainly one of the best 2015s that I have encountered from the appellation. |

This Aligoté is forward, bright and fresh. Very easy to drink and overall satisfying. With a bit more complexity than might be expected this is one of the better values among entry-level whites this year. Worth stocking up on at this price.

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
