The 2023 Trebbiano Capezzana is youthfully coy, mixing hints of ginger with wildflowers and lime. It's round and supple with a whiplash of zesty acidity and a saline flourish offsetting nearly oily textures and depths of ripe nectarine. It finishes tense and incredibly long, tapering off with a cheek-puckering lemony concentration. The 2023 is painfully young today but full of potential.HK$1,705.00 -
(6x37.5cl) 2016The Capezzana Vin Santo di Carmignano 2016 exemplifies the rich heritage of the Carmignano region in Tuscany. Crafted by the esteemed Capezzana family, this Vin Santo is made from meticulously selected Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes, harvested under optimal ripeness. Following traditional methods, the grapes undergo a lengthy drying process on straw mats, concentrating their flavours before gentle pressing. Fermentation occurs in small, temperature-controlled barrels, enhancing the wine’s complexity and depth. Aged for over five years in seasoned oak casks, the 2016 vintage reveals a harmonious balance of dried apricots, honeyed almonds, and subtle spices, underpinned by a vibrant acidity. The amber hue invites the nose to explore its layered aromatic profile, while the persistent finish delights the palate with elegance and finesse. Perfect as a contemplative aperitif or paired with classic Tuscan desserts, Capezzana Vin Santo di Carmignano 2016 is a distinguished addition to any fine wine collection.

Wine Advocate (94+)
Although this wine does not follow the logic of the MGA (or official map of vineyard crus) for Barolo, fruit is sourced exclusively from the Gabutti vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. The 2013 Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris is a magically ethereal, light and delicate expression that delivers a silky embroidery of wild raspberry, rose, dried violet and crushed stone aromas. The wine shows an incredibly fine and nuanced texture that lacks any overt sense of power or muscle but that instead imparts impressive length, depth and general dimension. The wine shows the richness of Serralunga d'Alba but remains light-footed and delicately fleeting all the while.HK$4,960.00 -

The 2014 Barolo Barolo Rupestris is a very pretty, fragrant wine. In this vintage, the Rupestris is a bit more ethereal than it usually is, and yet there is a lovely underpinning of structure that gives the wine its shape. Beautifully perfumed and gracious, the 2014 Rupestris opens with enticing scents of sweet tobacco, mint, dried herbs, orange peel, dried cherry, cedar and rose petal. The 2014 should drink well with minimal cellaring, but I expect it will also age gracefully while retaining its somewhat delicate feel.HK$2,935.00 -

The 2020 Barolo Rupestris is an elegant, sculpted wine. It shows the mid-weight structure of the year nicely. Sweet red cherry fruit, mint, chalk, white pepper, orange peel and dried flowers open with some coaxing. I would leave this alone in the cellar for a few years, as time in bottle is essential here. I won't be surprised if this fills out a bit over the coming years, as is often the case here. Many years ago Baldo Cappellano asked me not to score his wines, so all Cappellano wines show up on our database as NR.HK$8,675.00 -
