Il Marroneto
About Il Marroneto
Il Marroneto was founded by Giuseppe Mori and together with his sons, Alessandro and Andrea Mori, both lawyers, they made their first vintage in 1980, yielding a modest 1,855 bottles. Since then, their estate has grown to the current 5.8 hectares. As the winemaker, Alessandro takes the traditional approach of minimal intervention approach, producing some of the most long-lived Brunellos “along the lines of those made by Biondi-Santi and Costanti” (Ian D’Agata, Vinous). Il Marronetos' vineyards sit roughly 400m above sea level, providing the coolness to retain acidity and freshness in its fruit.

The bright ruby 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is another stunning 2019 on the nose, with bright, intense aromatics of rosewater, redcurrants, wild Mediterranean herbs, macchia, incense, anise, potpourri – it’s so distinctive yet always moving in the glass. Medium-bodied, with beautiful purity, it has ripe, fine tannins, is long on the palate for days, and has a weightless feel. This impeccable wine is phenomenal now, but it’s only going to improve over the coming 15-20 years.HK$5,815.00 -

For lovers of this estate, you’re going to want to stop everything and go find the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Madonna Delle Grazie if you have the means. There’s simply nothing else like it, and it needs to be experienced. It pours a saturated, youthful ruby color and has an unmistakable and distinctive nose that is highly expressive, with layered aromas jumping from the glass and unfolding notes of cassis, wildflowers, orange marmalade, clove, and blackberries. (Words do this no justice.) Equally potent and layered on the palate, it continues seamlessly, with noble structure and profound concentration through a stunning and long finish that lasts for several minutes (or as long as I could give it until moving on). Remarkable and singular, it truly stands apart from the crowd, even in this phenomenal vintage, where it’s hard to do much wrong. Profound. It’s a showstopper now and will be one of the great wines of the region for decades. Drink 2028-2050.HK$18,950.00
