The 2014 Brut 51° North is the inaugural wine of the prestige cuvée. It is a blend of 64% Chardonnay and 36% Pinot Noir. Sixteen percent of the base wines were fermented in oak. This is the original disgorgement. Evolution is evident on the nose with dried white currant, which dissolves into smoky, flinty creaminess. The palate is superbly fresh, savory and salty right away. Touches of roasted cashew, toasted sesame, seaweed and oyster shell spell delicious saltiness. This is taut, bright and so clean-cut. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: December 2021.HK$11,360.00 -

The 2014 Brut Blanc de Blancs (magnum) rises from the glass with notes of lemon and polenta, followed by a supple creaminess and slight smoke. The palate is vivacious, with a sprightly mousse; nothing here would ever make you dream that this is more than a decade old. Slenderness, freshness and brightness are mind-boggling on this magnum. It is as mellow as it is fresh, as understated as it is linear. Beautifully long, chalky, lemony, visceral and so utterly appetizing. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2025.HK$2,050.00 -

2019 has turned into one of the top vintages yet for this wine, consistently one of England’s top blanc de blancs sourced both from the Kentish clay and the Sussex chalk sites. The restraint of the vintage is certainly evident in the 2019 Blanc de Blancs, but it’s far from austere—over pure, ripe grapefruit and charred lime notes are white pepper top notes and pale shortbread richness, presented a little more reductively than some of the warmer vintages here. This manages to weave in a beautifully delicate thread of old oak and lees aging richness without swamping the purity of the fruit, finishing long and citric.HK$3,155.00 -

The 2018 Brut Reserve from Gusbourne in Kent provides more evidence, not that it is really necessary anymore, that English sparkling wine is really delivering. A tripartite blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier aged for 36 months on the lees, it offers enticing orange blossom, Nashi pear and hints of crème fraiche on the nose. The palate is imbued with a slightly creamy texture offset by well-judged acidity and a malic bite on the finish.HK$3,050.00 -

The 2020 Brut Reserve is the finest release yet of Gusbourne’s Brut Reserve, arguably amongst the country’s most complete sparkling wines even as the producer's first wine. Unusually, it is 74% Chardonnay, which works together with subtle 14% oak fermentation to shoot a charred citric energy through complexity of set honey, nougat and ripe yellow plum in this extremely ripe, sunny vintage. There’s a sense of fruit intensity and firm but not obtrusive structuring that lends this a sense of seriousness and even age-worthiness without sacrificing immediate pleasure.HK$2,820.00 -

The 2017 Boot Hill Vineyard Guinevere comes from selected parcels of Chardonnay from the estate, matured for 12 months in oak barriques. Silvery in hue, it has a well-defined bouquet with almond and sesame scents, developing subtle marine-like notes with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated both on the nose and on the palate, which is underpinned by a fine bead of acidity that counters the creamy texture. Sour lemon mixes with white peach and hazelnut, maintaining impressive focus and poise toward the persistent finish. Excellent.HK$1,585.00 -

The Hamilton Russell Vineyards 2024 Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Chardonnay shows a pretty combination of orchard fruit and subtle tropical notes underscored by a clear line of salinity that carries through an energetic, mid-weight texture. The wine is 100% barrel-aged in a mix of new and neutral François Frères oak, a regimen that adds quiet structure without obscuring detail. Sourced from low-yielding vines rooted in Bokkeveld shale, the maritime influence of the nearby South Atlantic contributes a taut mineral edge and natural freshness to the finish. A total of 35,340 bottles were produced.HK$1,800.00
