Rich and opulent on the nose, with yellow peach and honeycomb. Very full bodied, with that immediate internal sweet ripeness of fruit that often marks out this cuvée. Good balancing acidity here, with real intensity of concentrated sappy fruits. Huge length, impressive power and a great mineral expression. It coats the mouth, and somehow stays fresh despite its richness. The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres comes from a single hectare of vines planted in the 1950s. I often feel their Puligny is overlooked simply for the crime of not being "Meursault." The bouquet is very precise and focused, offering Golden Delicious apple, honeysuckle and light fennel scents, plus faint orange blossom aromas. The palate is powerful and intense with a fine bead of acidity, hints of praline infusing the slightly peachy fruit, and then coheres beautifully toward the persistent finish.
