(70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay; L3006183): Bright gold. Smoke-accented orchard fruits, herbs and citrus pith on the the intensely perfumed nose. Deeply pitched but lively on the palate, with very good depth to its intense pear and lemon curd flavors. The smoky note builds on the back half and carries through a long, sappy, impressively focused finish. This year's release seems tighter and more youthful than last year's version.HK$6,735.00 -

Charles Heidsieck’s racy 2013 vintage is a blend of ten Grands and Premiers Crus: Oger, Vertus, Chouilly, Cuis, Verzy, Aÿ, Ludes, Ambonnay, Tauxières and Avenay-Val d’Or. Usually appreciated for the richness and toast-enriched complexity of its Vintage cuvées, Charles Heidsieck 2013 plays on totally different assets, cool refinement and silky linearity. Despite excellent ripeness of the grapes, the October harvest brought about a tight acid line and fine aromatic restraint to it. Toastiness is subtle for the time being, but remarkably elegant, perfectly lining the sweet orchard fruit profile. Its best quality is the prism like radiance and purity of fruit. Showing highly youthful, this wine promises to be slowly but gracefully ageing. Suitably dosed at 9g/l.HK$4,590.00 -

This glows with a golden amber colour. A note of aromatic, lifted mandarin and orange marmalade richness is immediate, pure, bright and vivid. The more tertiary notes are distinctly present but subdued: subtle smoke, melted wax, toasted nuts – the citric verve keeps everything vivid. Notes of liquid blossom honey pop up, too. The palate has the same lemon freshness; it's luminous, pervasive, lifted. The mousse softens with time in glass and turns into a subtle whisper, showing beautiful concentration, real chalky depth and wonderful length. What a marvel. Tasted from magnum.HK$13,170.00 -

An amazing 2008 rosé Champagne that has all the structure and aromatic complexity - sushi ginger, oolong tea and caramelized mandarin orange - we associate with this vintage, but also has more charm than most. On the palate, this has stunning concentration, yet is diamond bright. The interplay of creaminess, fine tannins and mineral acidity builds and builds at the breathtaking finish. The color comes from about 7% pinot noir red wine, partly from the little-known Les Riceys in the far south of Champagne. Drink or hold.HK$4,600.00 -

Quite a different style from 2017. Aged 22 months in barrique, mix of new and old barrels. A bit reductive and toasty. The nose is attractive but oaky, with notes of cedar, hay, green olive, and rosemary. Chewy on the palate, dense, dark fresh fruit, but still lean and tight. An outlier worth checking in on a couple years from now.HK$890.00 -

Vinous (95)
The 2017 Chinon Clos de la Dioterie retains its great depth of color and feels incredibly young compared with many other 2017s from the region. Demonstrating excellent concentration and full body, it is round and without any angles. There's plenty of stuffing here, yet it remains elegant and coats the mouth with a delightfully fine tannic veil. You could drink it now, but that would be infanticide. If you like classy Right Bank wines that use Cabernet Franc as their base, you'll be pleasantly surprised at this wine.HK$930.00 -
(1x75cl) 2018Vinous (94)
The 2018 Chinon Clos de la Dioterie is richly fruited, reflecting the warmth of the vintage, and soft and mouth-filling despite not being heavy. There's baked fruit here, suggesting a combination of black currant, red cherry, cedar and spice. The tannins are structured and textured, showing this wine's intent, but it's all very well handled – those tannins are both resolved and incredibly chalky. This is a lengthy, serious wine with sinew. The vintage might be evident in the high alcohol and warm profile, but the class of the site is also indisputable.HK$735.00 -

Its concentrated flavors are pure; it remains light and elegant, with a delectable, chalky, veil-like texture residing on your tongue as the finish draws out with precision, sinew and line. This is a fine, texturally intriguing wine.HK$2,425.00
