Ruby-red. Pungent floral lift to the aromas of redcurrant, sandalwood and sassafras. Sweet and supple on entry, showing good depth to its red fruit flavors. Finishes moderately long, with polished tannins and a persistent floral note. Very successful in this vintage.HK$5,905.00 -

Opaque ruby-red. Spicy aromas of cassis, cocoa and tobacco. A bit chunky on the palate, with simple spicecake and dark plum flavors. Finishes smooth and long, and not at all hard--an accomplishment in 2009 consider the gravelly soil here.HK$6,060.00 -

Bright red-ruby. Sexy, expressive nose offers perfumed black fruits and a touch of mocha torrefaction, complicated by bright minerality. Then sweet, pure and enticing in the mouth, with nicely delineated black fruit and candied violet flavors. The persistent finish displays chewy tannins and a savory quality.HK$3,060.00 -

Medium red. Aromas of red- and blackcurrant and loam are lifted by hints of flowers, licorice and tobacco. Smooth on the palate, offering flavors of red berries and dark plum. Not the last word in complexity but nicely balanced and devoid of the bitter or green tannins typical of many 2013s. Well done.HK$3,355.00 -
(12x75cl) 2015Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)
The La Grave is a muscular, authoritative Pomerol. Here the flavors are dark and intense, while the wine's vertical sense of structure adds to an impression of brooding, virile power. Black cherry, lavender, menthol, scorched earth and grilled herb inflections, along with potent tannins, give La Grave its distinctly baritone voice. I would prefer to cellar the 2015 for at least a few years and see what develops.HK$4,825.00 -
(6x75cl) 2017Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)
The 2017 La Grave is powerful and dense in the glass. Dark blue and purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and dried herbs give the 2017 a decidedly somber intensity that comes through in the wine's overall feel as well. The tannins remain firm and sinewy, while slightly gamy, animal undertones reinforce an impression of rusticity. The 2017 is best enjoyed at the dinner table alongside rich, hearty fare.HK$1,850.00 -

Coming from the Moueix team, the 2019 Château La Grave sports a deep ruby/plum color to go with a meaty, spicy, iron-laced bouquet that includes notes of ripe black cherries, chocolate, and spice. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and velvety textured, it's the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted. It's already open and complex yet should shed some tannins with 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years in cold cellars.HK$4,345.00 -

Darker and denser than the 2015, the 2016 La Gravette de Certan reveals a similar profile yet has more obvious structure as well as full-bodied notes of smoked tobacco, black fruits, earth, and spice box. Coming from 100% Merlot (all the Cabernet Franc went to the Grand Vin), the 2022 La Gravette De Certan comes from younger vines and spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It's a forward, sexy second wine that has a ripe, voluptuous style in its red and black fruits, truffly earth, camphor, and flowery incense. Beautiful textured and medium to full-bodied, with solid, polished tannins and terrific overall balance, it's perfect for drinking any time over the coming 15 years or so.HK$2,800.00 -

The 2014 La Gurgue is bold, powerful and delicious. Succulent red cherry, plum, tobacco, smoke, dried flowers and licorice add character. Plush and inviting, but with a good backbone of tannin and acidity, the 2014 will drink well for a number of years.HK$1,155.00 -

Just as it was from barrel, the 2017 La Gurgue is a rich, powerful wine. Dark red cherry, red plum, cedar, spice, tobacco, licorice and mocha give this hearty Margaux plenty of character as well as personality. I especially admire the wine's density and sheer depth.HK$1,815.00 -
(6x150cl) 2020Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)
The 2020 La Gurgue is a rich, luscious wine deeply informed by tiny yields of 16 hectoliters per hectare as opposed to 35-40 or so. Plush, silky and voluptuous, the 2020 impresses right out of the gate. Rich red berry fruit, blood orange, pomegranate and spice build effortlessly in the glass. The 2020 has more Petit Verdot in the blend because of shatter in the Cabernet and Merlot. Aging is in 40% new oak, 40% concrete eggs and 20% new oak. It's a sleeper in this vintage.HK$2,385.00 -
(12x37.5cl) 2021Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)
The 2021 La Gurgue is a deep, almost shockingly potent, wine. A blast of dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice hits the palate. This flamboyant, generous Margaux is sure to find many admirers. The 2021 is naturally still coming together, but it is hugely promising. The tannins just need a bit of polish here.HK$1,425.00 -

The 2016 Le Haye has a playful bouquet with orange sorbet laced red berry fruit, more open and generous than its appellation peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin. This is quite saturated in style, with candied orange peel lacing the pretty, almost Margaux-like finish. This is a delight. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.HK$1,135.00
