France
The vast and diverse wine regions of France, each with its own unique terroirs, grape varieties, and winemaking techniques, are a treasure trove.
In Bordeaux, the birthplace of some of the world's most iconic wines, esteemed vineyards such as Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Haut-Brion produce exceptional red wines, showcasing the art of blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The region is also renowned for its exquisite white wines, with vineyards like Château d'Yquem and Domaine de Chevalier producing legendary sweet wines.
Moving to Burgundy, the vineyards of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leroy, and Domaine Armand Rousseau capture the essence of the region's revered terroir, crafting exquisite red wines from the Pinot Noir grape. Meanwhile, Domaine Leflaive and Domaine Coche-Dury are celebrated for their world-class white wines, predominantly made from Chardonnay.
The Champagne region, known for its sparkling wines, boasts illustrious houses such as Krug, Dom Pérignon, and Moët & Chandon, as well as grower-producers like Pierre Péters and Jacques Selosse. These vineyards create exceptional sparkling wines using the traditional method, offering a symphony of delicate bubbles, elegant flavors, and vibrant acidity.
In the Rhône Valley, iconic vineyards like Chapoutier, E. Guigal, and Château de Beaucastel produce remarkable red wines in the northern appellations of Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Cornas, showcasing the elegance and power of Syrah. Further south, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is celebrated for its rich and full-bodied red blends, with Château Rayas and Clos des Papes leading the way.
In Alsace, vineyards such as Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and omaine Trimbach craft exquisite white wines, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris, expressing the region's unique terroir and varietal character.
These are just a few highlights among the diverse array of wines that France offers. From the Loire Valley's crisp whites and elegant reds to the Languedoc-Roussillon's bold and robust wines, each region presents its own vinous treasures.

Bright, full red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, mocha, smoke, minerals and Oriental spices. A step up in concentration and texture from the Petits Monts and Suchots, offering outstanding richness and sweetness to the flavors of raspberry and spices. Finishes very long, with suave, palate-coating tannins. A lovely 2012 in the making.HK$1,130.00 -
Burghound (91-94)
(Outstanding) Like the Amoureuses this is highly restrained and also requires considerable swirling to coax the otherwise superbly fresh and spicy aromas of various wild red berries, anise, sandalwood, clove and pekoe tea nuances. Out of all of the 1ers in the range this is easily the biggest and most muscular; indeed this possesses grand cru size and weight, all wrapped in an intensely mineral-driven and explosively long finish. Note that here too this is not going to make for a good early drinker as ample patience will be required.HK$1,850.00 -

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges 1er Cru is nicely focused on the elegant, pure nose, which features perfumed black cherries, raspberry and incense aromas - quintessential Vosne-Romanée aromatics. The palate is well balanced with a silky entry, fine weight in the mouth and a succulent, high-toned but not excessive finish. The opulence is pitched just right. Superb. This benefits from being located at high altitude in a warm growing season.HK$4,200.00 -

The 2016 Rocheyron, from Peter Sisseck's property in Saint-Émilion, is unquestionably the best to date. The bouquet bursts from the glass with fresh blackberry and boysenberry fruit that is seamlessly integrated with the one-third new oak. The palate is framed by fine tannins and a superb line of acidity. There is plenty of crisp black fruit here, and the smooth, energetic finish leaves a crushed stone residue. If you couldn’t locate any Pingus this year, just come here.HK$2,135.00 -

The 2017 Rocheyron, owned by Pete Sisseck, offers ripe red cherry and cranberry fruit on the nose that does not quite have the delineation of the previous two vintages. The palate offers pretty dark cherry fruit laced with soy, a fine bead of acidity and whilst not a deep nor powerful Saint-Émilion, it has a finely tuned, truffle-tinged finish that lingers. Whilst not up to the level of the 2016, there is a panache already sewn into this wine.HK$1,560.00 -

The 2018 Rocheyron is a tasty Saint-Émilion that will be easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice all open with a bit of coaxing. Rocheyron is a perfectly fine Saint-Émilion, but it is also not especially distinguished. Rocheyron is the joint project of Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz.HK$1,920.00
